Our shop here in Canada is one of the most experienced shops in North America when it comes to Aladdin Alarm/Starters.
Overall they are nice systems...but I do have a few complaints about them. First off, we have had quite a few people complain about the Range on them. Though advertised Aladdin says 2500ft or so...we find that on average people get around 800-1000ft...if that sometimes.
Another thing that I personally dont like is the fact that you have to Arm the Alarm in order to remotely start the car. Or the fact that you don't have a real LED output...so if you want to hook up any kind of light show...you have to "hack" apart the aladdin in order to make it work.
Another thing I personally dont like about the systems is the Siren it brings is real real low...it sounds as if it maybe pushing 100db's...
There are other small quirks that I am not happy about...but overall, for the price it is a good system.
In about 1-2months Aladdin is supposed to be sending our shop updated units, with all the small complaints that we have sent them. When Aladdin does this...I believe they will have one of the best units out there. Problem is, we still have to wait for it. :(

IRL...
Awesome man...thanks for going into detail on what you like/dislike...i am currently looking at the Viper 800 ES, as the price is nice and it is a darn good alarm system...minus the remote start. But i really appeciate the help. Maybe i will hold off on the viper for now and look at the aladdin in a few months...i will repost this and hopefully you will see it and let me know what you think of the new ones.
THanks again.

Glad I could help!
If you are come across a Powerstart Alarm/Starter Combo for cheap on the net....grab it! It was the previous "Aladdin" system. It is identicle...same remote, diff brain. The Powerstart is AWESOME. Flawless with the same features/functions as the Aladdin. Thats what I have in my car right now...when we received the 1st shipment of Aladdin's a few months ago everyone at the shop installed them in their cars except for me. Well 3 months later and I am the only happy customer with my Powerstart unit!
I have looked on the net, and they are somewhat hard to find...but if you do come across it...I suggest you invest in that!

I stay away from all these no brand name/small alarm dealers. I suggest you go with the , DEI , they make the Viper, Python,Hornets, etc., They also bought out Clifford, this alone tells you how good they are. Clifford use to be a reputable name in car alarms. There are DEI dealership all over the US, such as best buy, circuity city, good guys, etc., Good value for the money and all their alarm come with a lifetime warranty.
I have 4 dei alarms(*Viper, (2) Python, CLifford) installed on all my family's car. NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM to date and my oldest DEI alarm is 4 years old, and have yet experience a single problem. If I did, the alarm comes with a lifetime warranty anyway, just bring it back to where you bought it.
