have you ever lose to a truck???

Have any of you ever lose to a bigger truck/suv???

There are ppl with bigger trucks, lifted, and roaring turbo always revving their engine when i am at a stop light. So i gave it a shot and race a Dodge Cumming Desiel Turbo Lifted, I was ahead Half a car for a lil bit, until 60mph he catch up a pass me by half a car.

i thought i might ask this question to see if ya ever come to these situation.

With some work, those Cummings Diesels can have upwards of 400-500hp and 600-700tq. More than enough to out run a GT.

I've raced a number of cars in my 5.7 Tundra and Sequoia - 401 ft lbs & a 6 speed trans with a low 1st gear means a great hole shot on them. 0-60 I can beat most cars that arent 13 second cars or faster. over 80 the weight and lack of aerodynamics starts to take a toll though.

can your car burn out??? I figure you'd do it for a little then catch traction simply cause the car has no power

im not a truck guy, i hate trucks so i just dont care..lol
but there was a guy who asked me to run his newer chevy diesle, he said he had some bolt ons and was tuned.
he wouldnt do anything higher than a 15 roll.
3 honks, i spin into second he gets a great hole shot, i pull to his back tire at 90.
the road had some little curves comeing up so i just shut down.
so thats my loss. lol

You don't need power - all you need is a bottle of black magic tire shine and a working e-brake

I haven't yet lost to a truck in the celica. (knock on wood ) The closest race I've had is with my dad's '07 harley F-150, but I think I only beat him because I caught him off guard.
I did lose pretty badly to an F-250 turbodiesel in my old camry though.... I doubt I could have beaten it in the celica either.

there are plenty of suvs trucks that will beat a gt-s... lightnings cyclones, fx45's srt-10's, trailblazer SS, a lot of the turbodiesels, some of the amg suv's, cayennes, fx50s, cherokee srt-8s, M class, titans, just to name a few. i can name about 5 more but you get the idea

When I was younger and I still had my first car, a 2001 Chevy Prizm, I actually lost to a Silverado 1500. I couldn't believe it when it happened, but I didn't know anything about cars then at all. I didn't even know that my Prizm didn't have over drive. Oh well, it still got over 30 mpg in the city at times.

Moral of my story: Trying to race in a 4 banger without overdrive=FAIL

WTF was that grand am thinking? my old lady had a 99 gt and that pile couldn't spin its tires even in the snow due to the traction control. that car was worthless in the winter couldn't get around to save your sole.

and theres plenty of modded trucks that would work celicas around here. hell ive even driven a semi that could probably beat celicas. got done doing a service went to drive it out had no problem spitting some rubber pulling out of work to get it parked. was pretty sweet but idled like crap.

My 01 chevy 4 door dually turned 13s easily fastest I ever got was a 12.9. Couldn't keep it from spinning the tires going into second when I disabled the tranny protection. Edge programer with a couple other things.

to the op, are you driving an auto? a manual gt should'v taken the dodge. yeah, never underestimate them. hell, my dad has an 02 chevy duramax, chipped with fuel managment and a 5 inch exhaust, pushing around 500hp at the wheels.
to answer the question, yes. they've usually been modded trucks though, 'cept for an srt-10. most of the stock ones dont like it when i go past in lift with a straight pipe

I dont mess with trucks. I've seen big ass ford diesels on propane running 7.50's in the 1/8. And that is on big ass swamper tires.

Well, my sequoia posted its first loss today. It wasn't really a formal race but I tried to hang with littlerocket in our NA GTS with the MR2 5speed gearbox, ported header, decat and our production intake manifold. Not going to happen. Not even close. I think I would take him out of the hole, but from a roll he was pulling be with ease.

The good news is that I'm swapping it out for an AWD highlander V6 next week, so we'll have to revisit the issue with 2GR power

I have a feeling he'll still pull you. Condering the Camry V6 puts down a mid to low 14 sec 1/4 performance, the Highlander being heavier can't be much better than a mid 14 car. The Celica should be able to do better, or at least so I hope.

I got in a race with a dodge ram. I think it was a 1500 but I'm not sure. I never saw the back. we were at a light and the two lane road was about to become a one lane road. and I didn't want to be behind anyone. I didn't think he was going to try to beat me so my launch was only a little faster than when I'm just cruising. but damn did he take off quick. so I floored it and we ran side by side till we hit about 80 then my celica just tore him up.

Moral of the story: only race a truck if you KNOW you're going to top 60

Nissan Titan 0-40 going uphill on slicked concrete... didn't work out for my lightweight car. Spun the wheels for a good two seconds on that wonderful road. Caught up quickly though, then had to turn off.

I lost to an old ford truck not too long ago. It was a flat black 30's lassie truck with side exhaust, lowered, nice rear end on it. I would give it a 4/10 it didnt look like it was in great shape, but the engine ran strong. He wiped the floor with me. Some old guy driving it. Haha

I was at a local track last year and there was a Tractor Trailer there, it ran a 15.5! He left two HUGE trails of black smoke all the way down the 1/4. Funniest thing i've ever seen.. it beat ALOT of the little EG's that were at the track that night than ran high 15's and low 16's. he even tried to do a burnout in the wet box... too funny

disels have bout double the torque of the HP

normal trucks arent to bad well unless they run ya in 4WD, you gotta watch out for Turbo Diesels with controllers, with just a controller, they can be a force to reckon with, crap they have some weird crap you can supposedly stack the controllers for more power and TQ dont understand it but you can. Diesels might be kinda lower on the HP side but have more TQ which will launch them like an SOB, Tony Topshop Owner has a Powerstroke Turbo Diesel and he smokes pretty much most the imports round here ranging from Turbo eclipses GSX and GST's. SRT4's and others here and there, and when they get on them on rolls watch out cause will jump hard at ya cause you have to think these trucks when hopped can haul some weight and still do 80 MPH up hills, that most peoples cars couldnt do on normal circumstances,,,,and well with the controllers they are just 2 minutes away from being torque monsters, Also note if they are stock with out the controllers they arent to threatning, but you dont come across to many of them that dont have them.
here are a couple vids that run various qtr speeds due to mods

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CdklFO28EM

Dyno
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCJLY9LOqL0

So basically heres a tip to think about before you race one, if he is shooting black smoke all over your car as he asks to race turn it down cause hes running high boost, if he challenges u and its not smoking that bad maybe accept it but do it right then and there and dont let him shut it off cause if he does hes changing his map. Darker and thicker the smoke the faster hell be

There are ppl with bigger trucks, lifted, and roaring turbo always revving their engine when i am at a stop light. So i gave it a shot and race a Dodge Cumming Desiel Turbo Lifted, I was ahead Half a car for a lil bit, until 60mph he catch up a pass me by half a car.

i thought i might ask this question to see if ya ever come to these situation.
there was this joker in a 2500HD turbo diesel chevy 05-07, dont remember, spewing black everywhere. he said "730+hp and 1049tq"... ok would have had me if...
didnt have them 36 inch mickey tires on that beast
didnt have a 8 inch lift
and knew how to brake boost (auto FTL)

but i cheated... i was in the bimmer.
oh, and he lied. after the fun run, he said " oh, i only got it on the 2nd most powerful setting instead of the 1st most. (his programer , is what he was talking about). and thats only good for 540+hp and maybe 700tq.

oh well. nice truck thou.
