Why the eBay turbo kit is a piece of crap that you shouldn't buy

The point of this thread is to explain why the eBay turbo "kit" is not really a kit at all, why it won't work on your car.

The first and most glaring problem is the manifold that won't fit on your car:

http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=256773

There are numerous other problems with the kit such as the collection of universal bends that make up the "intercooler piping" but in reality still need to be custom fabricated to fit on your car.

Please provide additional links to threads explaining the issues with this kit and why nobody should buy it.

Ummm, how about: "You should never, ever skimp on something as crucial as a turbo kit"?

Have you ever looked at some of the Chinese-made turbos that are selling like hotcakes on Ebay? I have tried to stay away from them, but a few recenty made their way into the shop for us to take a look at. After disassembly, and showing their owners the problems right next to REAL Garrett assemblies on the same table, their owners were heart-broken.

A few things I have seen in the Garrett knock-off turbos made in China:
Steel turbine blade - not Inconel.
Terrible bearing clearances in brass bearings of poor design.
Compressor and turbine wheels not mounted straight on shaft.
Poor clearances in compresor and turbine housings.
WAY off balance.
Poor thrust clearances.

SCARY!
Not only will these things not last, but the chances of them failing and taking the engine with them are very likely.

I cannot stress this enough: When seeking performance, buy good parts at fair prices. Buy them once, and they will cost you less in the long run.

Engine Management/Fuel Control
-------------------------------

The ebay kit fails to come with any form of engine management control. No ECU, no upgraded fuel injectors, no wideband O2 sensor or gauges; all which are needed for a safe and proper tune with a turbo kit. Most kits at least provide the upgraded fuel injectors and ECU leaving the latter for you to get. Installing any turbo kit to boost airflow without boosting fuel delivery is a time-bomb engine waiting to go off.

I wouldn't trust it.
Third close up it says
"Torbocharger"
"Type - GT28-SR"
Doesn't sound so legit to me
