d2 coilovers or rebuild shocks?

Anyone out there have the D2 coilovers? how's the ride quality? i do alot of pothole hunting on these streets in the northeast and my suspension is SHOT.

my current options are either get the d2 coils ($899) or rebuild my shocks. this is the second time i'm doing my shocks, so it's time to get all the components with it, mounts, bushings, etc.

I currently run the TRD springs with AGX shocks. which were ok, but i wasn't too big of a fan. either way, they need to go. if I replace all 4 shocks, strut mounts, bellows, and spring insulators, the parts come out to be $740 shipped from rockauto.com who are AMAZING.

so we're talking about $159 really..... looking for input

Dunno about you but for an extra $159 then hell yes I would get the coils over rebuilding your current setup.

You have plenty of other options besides D2 though. Megans, KSports, Tein Basics, BCs are all in the same price range so you might want to read up on each different brand to find what suits your needs the best.

If you're looking for user input I believe Johnny (RTZCeli) has D2s. Not sure who else on here has them, Ksports and BCs seem to be a lot more common.

Dish out a little more for the BC coilovers. I know a person on this forum that can give you the connections to purchase a brand new set of BC's for $899 as well. You also won't have to re-use the stock pillow mounts for the rears as you do w/ the D2's.

I have the D2's and they've been treating me pretty well. If I were you, I think dishing out another $159 is totally worth it. You get to adjust your ride height.

Last time I read, D2 is just K-sports...
But really just dish out a little more for BC Racing or Tein coilovers because everybody knows you'll be turning a few corners pretty fast every now and then whether you track it or not.

^is that supposed to be a busted strut?
The spring on the fronts struts is always supposed to be compress, meaning you dont lower adjust height by droping the spring.

BC > Ksport/D2
BC also comes with its own endlinks and yes they do come with rear top hats so its alot more friendly than the other brands.

^Not sure. But I can back up BC Racing coilovers for sure, they're just sitting in my room and I've felt them first hand, real sturdy and welds are really well done.

Here's my FB album of them sitting in my room if you wanted to take a look. Trust me, the BC Racings are well worth the money, I used to have tein basics.

yeah i've prettymuch come to the conclusion that aftermarket coils are the way to go for the extra $$. I haven't found the BC's for under 1000, so if you wanna share that info it'd be greatly appreciated!! i'll pm you incase you don't check this thread again. lol

I also noticed that the BC coils have a 1 year warranty where the d2 coils have a 3 year warranty.

Just go to the vendors sales section and find BC Racing from JMAUTORACING, he sells them for $899 shipped, might've changed by now though not sure, but it wouldn't hurt to try and see.
The BC's probably don't have a longer warranty because they're superior build?

ah, i messaged him the other day and he was gonna sell me the D2's for 900 shipped so maybe he can do the same for the BC's.

do the BC adjust the preload on the spring when you lower the height? cause i know the D2's dont, which is what i'm looking for. these are mainly to be used on the street.

am i correct in reading that the spring rates of the BC coils are 5kg front and 6kg rear? BR series that is... and what is the difference between the regular and JDM Superstrut??

I went and ordered the D2 coils. 3 year full warranty, adjustable compression and rebound dampening, custom spring rates with a re-valve. AND END LINKS. all for $900 shipped. Can't go wrong there really! most reviews online i read say they are alot better than the k-sports so we'll see how they turn out once I get them.

the 3 year warranty is really what sold me on this set.. these northeast roads are gonna tear them apart! I'll be sure to post a review after I install them and align it at my shop.
