long time lurker first time posting.
A little bit ago I blew my motor. I believe I fried my rings, and was burning oil. It was to the point where I was not able to see behind me from inside the car.
A few months later I had the motor rebuilt.
My motor is stock. PPE Headers, custom exhaust, no cats, tuned on Power FC.
I have now been driving my car for a few weeks. The rebuilt motor feels good and drives really nice. However I do have a few concerns, that maybe you guys might be able to help me with.
Number one is the smell. I still smell oil burning, there is no smoke at idle or even when I'm just cruising down the road, but I do smell it. The mechanic told me that I was still burning the oil out of my exhaust. Which I guess can make sense, although logically I feel like that should take only a few hours.
The biggest issue I have is that when I hit lift, I definitely noticed a small puff of white smoke. Now I have only hit lift 3 times since I have had my motor rebuilt.
I googled a few things, and one thread says smoking a little at lift is perfectly normal, but most threads say that its absolutely not normal.
The one thread that states is normal is linked here....
I also googled a few other forums about people rebuilding their motors, and are saying it took them 5000 miles before the smell finally subsided. Now this information was not from a 2zzge car. It might have been some SUV forum.
If anyone can help me here that would be greatly appreciated. I dont know whether I should try to attempt another rebuild or go straight to retuning my PowerFC.
