Buy friends neglected 2010 Camaro?

In a few months my friend is going to sell their 2010 Camaro LT for somewhere around 13-14k to me. It was smoked in and just generally not taken care of. It was run dry of oil and kept like that for a good half a year, then it was taken in and got 3000 dollars worth of repairs because of it. (not sure what they did) but now the check engine light is off and its passed its inspection. Its been in one accident where the door was hit, but replaced and painted professionally by the dealership. Their rich so anything that goes wrong is taken care of. Its dirty as sht on the inside because of all the trash and stuff. There's also a slight tick in the engine and its a bit squeaky under the hood. Tick may be a belt or the VVT, or injectors, if not, im clueless. Anyways, on the other hand my 2003 Celica GT is in perfect condition mechanically and aesthetically aside from the cracked paint on the rear bumper from the texas sun. Leather interior and very clean inside. Should I trade in my car and cough up some cash for the Camaro? This is either a way to get a good car for cheap that I can fix up rather easily, or wasting a lot of money and time. Camaro has 45k miles and my Celica is just over 80k

Hell no dude. IMHO once a car is in an accident, I wouldn't feel like it is worth that much

You'll have a much better time with the Celica anyways.. Domestic is lame and does not last

14k for a V6 shitty Camaro? May run for a while but not worth the money in the long haul.

No. I would put some of that money into better things (school, rent, bills, or maybe even a few things for the Celica) and save most of it for a better car/one that hasn't been abused.

Yeah, I'd go with no on this one. Buying a V6 Camaro is like buying a V6 Mustang or GT Celica (lolz). Even if it was not beat to crap I still wouldn't do it.

Haha thanks, not gonna go for it. Might as well save for a better car than sink money into a car that wont last

Now hold on guys, lets not just go slamming the American cars. Actually, in the last couple years American cars have drastically improved in quality and reliability. Take the Chrysler 300 (that car is sexy as can be now!). That car I would place up there with the BMW M5 or a similar Mercedes-Benz. Why? The SRT-8 300 has the same engine as the Dodge Charger. Powerful, luxurious, and good looking, not to mention reliable. But since the car has been in an accident, probably you should pass up on it. I do want to mention though that Camaro has one of the most powerful V6s out there. 310 horsepower I believe, compared to just over 200 in 2002 V6 camaro (the last one produced before they redid the Camaro in 2008). So just go with your gut. V8 has 426 hp. V6 has 310 hp. You choose.

The Charger SRT8. Not Just the Charger. The New M5 and AMG Benzs will trump any SRT short of the Viper.

Dodge out of all the American companies has been the least reliable to date.

The fact that it has been trashed is why it we say pass. Not necessarily because it is American.

People often overlook this. The seemingly most reliable, quality car will give you problems if it's neglected/trashed, while the obvious low quality car can give you reliable transportation if cared for.

This is the type of car you hope your used purchase turns out not to be...knowingly buying one treated like this is just silly. Better off buying from a stranger.
