Where to get my Power FC tuned?

I'm looking for a place somewhere in Columbus or Cincinatti, OH to tune my car. None of the places here in WV know what they are doing. I'm going to make the trip sometime soon and I wanted to know if any of you guys had any suggestions on where to take it. I haven't purchased the Datalogit so I need a place that supports Apexi. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I would reccomend you buying the datalogit and tuning it yourself on the dyno. Its time consuming and if you dont know what you are doing you could **** something up. Its a great learning experience take your time with it and learn how to use it.

No, but... I've heard a company in Pittsburgh, Pa called HybridDynamics are authorized Apexi dealers/tuners. A friend of mine who's into Hondas knows some of the guys there and seems to think they're pretty good, but I don't know from personal experience. If I ever get the PowerFC I'll probably end up taking it there.

Yes these places can do tuning for you, but you gotta find out what can they do. If they only plug in a commander and only mess around with general stuff, then you are not taking full advantage of the PowerFC. With Datalogit you can lower lift engagment point and raise rev limiter which a commander can not do.

authorized apexi tuners have an apexi software that > datalogit.

also be very careful when taking itto a honda tuning shop. they tend not to understand that the celica is not like a honda.

Thanks for the help, I will look into that place in Pitt. I would like to try and do it myself, but I have no where near enough knowledge to do it and with my luck I would manage to blow up my engine. I have a laptop laying around the house that I might try to use instead of the commander, any idea if that would be beneficial? Like I said, when it comes to the computer/car stuff... I'm lost.

We're outside of Detroit. A little bit more of a drive, but we're the only place in this region that I'm aware of that has experience with the PFC. We also have the Datalogit in-house.

An authorized apexi shop could probably do it but they're in TX and CA only. Thay also don't sell the Toyota PFCs so they're not very familiar with them in my experience.

I know Maryland is a bit of a drive for you but there are several very good shops around here that can tune it for you. Extreme Motorsports is one of them. They tune some of the worlds quickest and fastests DSMs...

but doesnt mean they will catch on to doin a celica right away

I'm not sure what would happen if they tried to move lift too far but I'm sure it wouldnt be too good.

maybe mwr has tried. we moved lift to 5800 and lost major power. cant picture what would happen if they tried to start at 4800 like the rsx thats why I fear places that dont know celicas.

I wouldnt trust Extreme tuning my car at all. I bet they hardly ever tune NA cars, and I bet they have never tuned an NA celica with a power FC before either. I would much rather tune the thing myself with datalogit on the dyno before I let a DSM tuner touch it. I would have let SRT tune it but after going there for dyno baseline runs and speaking with the guys...I would NEVER let them touch my car. There a VERY FEW tuners who I trust to tune my car, and I would very much rather tune it myself than have someone not experienced at all with a celica with PFC tune it. I bet I could tune my car better than half the tuners out there because most of them have NO experience with the PFC. At least I understand the interface and know what most of the changes will do. I might spend a lot of time and money on the dyno, but I think its more rewarding this way. I dunno thats my $.02

So swift racing and exteme are not the places to go for tuning? What about Agile Automotive or Curry's?

Well thats just my opinion, but for their respective cars they CAN tune I wouldnt hesitate to take it to them. Extreme for DSM's, and Swift for IS300's. But for a celica, never. I dont really have any experience with Agile or Curry's so I cant comment on them. I have heard some good things about Tempest racing in Waldorf, MD. I havent had any first hand experience, but only what Ive heard. There is a Honda tuner in VA that I have a great deal of trust in as he can tune just about anything, and works wonders on Hondata, AEM EMS, and just about any piggyback system you can think of. I am trying to setup a tuning session with him and see what he can do. But if he fails at making any progress (and I pray he makes tremendous gains), Im going to be spending a great deal of time and money on a dyno.

Ok, I know that I can't do it myself and I already called Hybrid Dynamics and they said they can't do it. I called Apexi directly and they told me of a place called Extreme PSI. I'm not sure if Extreme Motorsports and Extreme PSI are the same or not. I know that my car would be better in the hands of someone who actually knows what they are doing cause there is no way I could tune this myself. DYI, how much do u think you would cost to tune my car...seriously. I can drive to PA or MD easy.

if MWR is within reasonable driving range from you I'd go there.

Yeah, but who has? No one. Very few except for the members on this board. Extreme just finished my friends S2000. He put in a VAFC. He is now completely owning me where as before he would put a fender to a door on me. They did an excellent job of making his powerband perfectly linear. He gained up to 11hp in certain ranges which is damn good for just a VAFC on a car that comes highly tuned from Honda. They do alot of cars there Dan, not just DSMs. They even gave him an extra 4 pulls since they werent happy with the results that they got after the 3 runs he had paid for. If that isnt going the extra mile and putting a little pride into your work, I dunno what is.

I emailed SRT and they said they have already done work on a Celica GT-S with PFC. Agile Automotive also sent me a nice email saying they have not worked on a celica yet, but they have just received software from Apexi for the PFC. From what you say Extreme motorsports might be a good option as well.

That was my celica at SRT...and they didnt do **** with it, just ran the dyno. The owner of SRT has been trying to sell me his intake and "black box" Fuel control system since ive been going there. Last time I went to SRT with the PFC, he said his box could do more then the PFC could to....I wanted so bad to tell him what was up, but they always make dyno room for when I want it It seems like everytime I go there, they are always looking to sell me something. I dont mind going there and using their dyno, but im going to tune it myself.

SR Motorsports? Anyone tried them? According to Apex'i's website they are PowerExcel certified.
