Datalogit Availability
Just an FYI, we've filled 90% of the backorders for the Datalogit now and expect another large shipment within a month. We're hoping that supply problems with the datalogit will be a thing of the past soon.

I just ordered mine today. They said I am 6th on the list and they typically get ten at a time, so he said I will for sure get one when the next shipment arrives. They were expecting them at the end of this month, but there is a delay, they don't know for how long. Someone could try calling Rotary Performance and see if they have any update.

Not looking good
From what I've been able to tell the Datalogit product seems to be a sidewhow product from some guys in NewZealand who don't seem to be committed to this product as a serious business. Heck, their US distributor is an RX-7 performance house - not a general performance parts distributor they would need to get traction in the market here in the US.
I'm not counting on getting any Datalogit anytime soon, and I really want the PFC, but since I'd be spending some serious coin on the PFC, I really need some advice on tuning.
1) Monkeywrench or others, can I get away with buying the PFC with a MWR base map, and simply advance the timing/lean out the A/F mixture with the Commander until I get maximum performance on a dyno? Is there some basic tips that would get me 90% there on the tuning?
2) I'll ask this in the So. Cal forum too, but is there a good shop in So Cal equipped with a Datalogit that knows their $hit and can tune a PFC in a reasonable time?

I think Brainstorm in LA is an actuall authorized Apexi dealer - may want to call and ask them. They do a lot of miata and Scooby work.

IMO you can't get 90% there w/o a dyno which has wideband 02 sensor data and accurate torque measurement. I don't think the gtech is good enough for precise tuning. I'd only use the Commander for monitoring knock or making emergency retarding of ignition timing if needed, while on the street. You can try using it for tuning but I would find it frustrating compared to the ease of a laptop. plus you can't store seperate maps on the Commander, or any maps on it.

what we really need is someone else to make them and give the datalogit people some competition that would fix the whole problem.

I really wonder why those New Zealanders do it in the first place. Do they just have really big hearts for tuners? Supposedly they have full time jobs outside of making Datalogits, so do they really need the extra cash? If you really want one NOW, the surest way is to fly to New Zealand and offer them $10,000 for one. I bet you'd have one in a day.
