UPDATE: WAR's thread on non-MWR 1ZZ/2ZZ Valves & Valve Springs

Just wanted to update WAR's thread about non-MWR 1ZZ/2ZZ valves and valve springs that he had originally found. I found lower prices on the valve springs than what he originally found. Also, the website that he originally linked to for the valves increased their price for a full set by $10. But it's still the cheapest price on the net. Anyway, thought I should pass the updated info on. If you're wondering about these products, FYI I am running both of these products in my cylindre head.

Ok, to recap WAR's thread:

First, to those of you who are wondering. It is 99.9% certain that MWR uses Eibach valve springs and, surprise, surprise, badges them as their own. Just to clear up any confusion, they do that quite often with many products. This analysis was made possible by some testing that 00silverGTS6spd had done on the MWR springs. He took them to a Toyota testing facility, where after test were performed, they were confirmed to be of an Eibach design. Additionally, Toyota was highly impressed with the quality. So either way you buy them, MWR or Eibach, you are getting a great valve spring. You just save some serious cash buying them without the MWR name.

Secondly, the valves that WAR found are made by Supertech. They are available in either flat or dished versions. It is not yet clear, but these also appear to be the valves that MWR sells as their own. At least they have the same features: Swirl Polished, Stem Undercut, Hardened Tip, Black Nitride Treatment Here's a GENERIC pic of the valves - this is NOT a pic of the 1ZZ/2ZZ ones:

Thirdly, the valve springs that WAR found, if you have not inferred by now, are made by Eibach. Yes, Eibach makes other products besides lowering springs! The valve springs they make for 1ZZ/2ZZ are called the EVS Sport Valve Springs. All the info about these I already posted up top. Here's a GENERIC pic of the springs - this is NOT a pic of the 1ZZ/2ZZ ones:

Ok...so the prices I found and where to get them are as follows:

Supertech Valves (tell them you want a full set of Supertech intake & exhaust valves - either dished or flat). 2ZZ Part #'s = TIVN 1031 and TEVN 1031. I don't know the 1ZZ one.
www.NoLimitMotorsport.com. $285 shipped for a full set. 866-381-4618. Ask for Rob.

Eibach Valve Springs (tell them you want a full set of Eibach EVS Valve Springs for either a 1ZZ or 2ZZ). 1ZZ Part # = 20409.116. 2ZZ Part # = 20407.116.
www.DriveWire.com - $192 shipped for a full set. 800-895-8910 x 103. Ask for Jason.

I fixed the second link. It was wrong. The link for the EVS springs, I doubt you could find them on there. You have to call and they have them in stock. Actually, even the place that WAR originally posted up for the EVS springs was like that - not listed on the site, but they had them in stock when you called.

Anyway, I know because I ordered mine from them and they came no problem

Josh, quick question on the intake/exhaust valve, are they stronger compared to the stock? and is there performance gains/difference between the dished and the flat?? Nice info buddy

just a headsup..

but the springs pictured are not the ones you get. they are of the same SERIES..but they are for a honda application and are double-springs.

the eibach valve springs for the 1zz & 2zz are both single springs.

doesn't really matter..just a headsup if anyone was wondering why their mwr/eibach springs didn't look like the ones pictured.

I added to the description that both of those pics are not pics I took. They are just generic pics I took from their websites. Sorry!

Pat
Much stronger than stock. Supertechs are made of stainless steel coated with Black Nitride. Black nitride has a higher microhardness than uncoated stainless steel. Surface finish is smoother than with chromed stems, having less friction between stem and guide. Valve seat surface is harder with the nitrided layer. Also, the Black Nitride adheres to the stainless steel at the molecular level, so it is actually bonded into and with it.

Dished = turbo, Flat = N/A. No difference in performance.

Possibly on the high end. The 2zz experiences slight valve float about 8300rpm which robs hp.... and many people with PowerFC set their rev limiter to 8600rpm..

The undercut stems on the valve gives it better flow, how much of it translate in the extra hp, i have no idea,

The engine is all done. Waiting on 10 bolts (9 of one size, 1 that is a special size) which basically attach the bearing cap assembly to the cylindre block. There were 5 of the 10 in stock in the U.S. The other stupid little ones had to be ordered from JP and it is taking forever for them to get over here. I'm itching to get this thing dropped back in the vehicle and the turbo attached, but I have to wait.

Anyway, you guys should really thank WAR for this info. Well, at least for originally finding the valves and valve springs. I'm just updating his thread and adding a bit more info.

^^ I would upgrade both the valve springs and the valves themselves. Supposedly just the valve springs would be sufficient, but the 2ZZ has relatively weak valves so a stronger set would be good while everything is already out anyway.

I thought float wasn't supposed to start till you get close to 8600 - 9k?
Setting the fuel cut higher than the stock 8400 helps stay in lift, so even tho you might lose some hp, you might make up for that on the track by staying in lift.

Valvesprings would do it if you always shift correctly. Valves would be insurance in case you overrev or misshift.

I have stock 2zz my plan is to get a Hydra EMS lower my Lift engagemnt point from 6800 to 6000 and raise the rev limiter to 9000k.

i dont want to blow anything so thats why asking if I only need Valves.
Ok Gottcha I am getting both Vlavesprings and valves.
So Eibach valve springs then.

and for Supertech Vavles do I need flat or dished versions. which ones are stock BTW?

also which of these are the best or how can I get them Swirl Polished, Stem Undercut, Hardened Tip, Black Nitride Treatment ?

Flat is for non N/A (stock or all-motor)
Dished is for N/A

If you get the Supertech valves or the MWR valves (which are the Supertech ones), you will have all of the above treatments you were asking about.

Just an update:

As part of the redirection of my engine (since both my engine and the shop where my engine was at got flooded during Hurricane Katrina). I've decided to go with both the Eibach valve springs and the Supertech valves (in place of Ferrea, which was what was originally planned).

1. The Eibach valve springs were still $192 shipped at the place Josh (aerospike2002) listed in the topic thread. Talked to Jason.

2. I got the full set of Supertech valves (intake & exhaust) at the same place Josh mentioned in the first thread for $265 shipped. Didn't talk to Rob, though. I didn't get the salesperson's name. Rob still does work there though, just wasn't there at the time I called.

I'm not sure how relevant this is (although it seems to be more than a coincidence to me)....

But I received my Supertech valves in today. Each valve is packaged individually and labelled on each package is "MWR" followed by an item code.

That's what I said, right? Their main dealer is MWR, I believe. They have them packaged and ready to ship to them when MWR orders more.

It's like if you went in to HKS and found one of their mufflers with the tip engraved with "TRD" on it. More people order the muffler under the TRD name than under the HKS name (well, HKS doesn't even sell the actual TRD one through them, but the example still applies). So it makes sense that they would have the majority of their mufflers with the TRD label on them - TRD certainly orders it that way and doesn't apply it themselves.

I would not order valve springs from Drivewire. I had a bad experience with them. I order my valves spring from that guy named jason and he told me it will be there latest end of next week. I waited for 2 weeks and still nothing. I called and asked him what is going on and he said the valves spring just arrived ill send it to you right now and you willl get it by the end of the next week. I said can i pay more to do next day mail and they said okay and they an extra 30 dollar from my credit card. I waited 2 more days and still nothing and i called again and asked them and he said the valve springs didnt come in yet and i asked jason why did you tell me that you had it and going to ship it out today. He was slient umm just pissed the crap out of me I told him i need it because my car is in the shop and its just sitting there. I end up ordering from MWR which came next day as promised.

That's unfortunate - at least 3 of us on this site (myself, Speed4TheNeed, and one other old school member) ordered from DriveWire and they were delivered on time, each time.

Would this help supercharged applications? If I was to get the Greddy s/c, I'd only want to increase the rev limit a couple extra rpms, 8800 max...

why do you want to spend so much money. if you are staying N/A then just use OEM.

Note regarding FLAT or DISHED head. Flat is for all motor applications, and will give a slight boost in compression. The Dished head valve is slightly lighter, and used for turbo applications.

I'd get rid of the guesswork and go with the MWR valves and springs.
