shaking in the steering wheel??

well its been going on for a bit and i figured balancing my wheel and tires along with a 4 wheel alignment will do the trick..NOPE.

so my alignment is great. i feel the little shake on the steering wheel when i give it some full throttle over 40 mph. but when i let go of the gas. it seems to go away.

have i done some damage to my axles (not sure if im right) from doing some launches. im not sure what could be causing the shake in my steering wheel. any help or suggestions on what i should check is appreciated. thanks.

Thats really only common to an alignment problem. Or if the wheels were not properly installed. Are you using hubcentric rings on the rims?

Try swapping the fronts to the rear. Also check your tie rod ends

A imbalance can appear at varying speeds so it might feel fine around town then shake alot at like 55-65 then go away again.

Does it happen at all when brakes are applied?

yeah the hub centric rings are still on the wheels it and i did have my tires rotated. it doesnt happen when i apply the brakes.

i guess ill check on the tie rods. what exactly do i need to check?? thanks for responding.

My steering wheel shakes at exactly 80mph. That means that whenever I'm on the freeway, I have to either speed up or slow down so I don't have to deal with it.

a few causes are listed by the guys here:

* the rims not in the center of the hub. ie: inner hub ring missing
* worn shocks, tie rods issue. have them checked out. at the same time, check the ball joints, CV etc also.
* bad tyres that's not balanced properly.
* Resonance (same reason why 2zz guys can't hold the car steady at 2000 rpm netural.)

my bet is that you would probably just need highspeed balancing on the wheels.

im going to go with the second choice. i just noticed now that i throttle damn lil shaky happens. i guess ill come back to the shop and have them check it out.

lmao, im like this guy. it would happen at like 65mph, so i'd speed up to make it stop, and whenever i would have a passenger that would ask about it, i'd say, "oh, my celica just likes to speed."
