10s 1/4mile, AWD 7 gen celica........ ever heard of it before?

I remember reading a while back about how this guy completely transformed his celica to having AWD and 1/4 mile time around 10s, and it was street legal. It looked like a regular celica with a not-to-aggressive body kit, but there was nothing on it that was stock. He made it AWD by swapping parts from an older corolla. He swapped out the 2zz engine for an older MR2 2.0L with custom turbo which gave it 650whp. All the body panels where remade with lightweight materials bringing the final curb weight to lower than a stock celica. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this guy before and if they have any more information. I remember reading it in some Magazine.

In the October 2006 issue of Banzai Japanese Tuning Mag (UK magazine) that I have there is a big article about the car that I think your talking about. He's in the UK, and this Celica is DECKED-OUT!!!!!

Ill see if i can find the article online somewhere, cuz i dont have a scanner or digicam to upload the article from my magazine.

Here we go... I found it: Fensport Celica GT4-X

In the Banzai mag article it says the car is "Power rated at over 650bhp at 2.2bar boost, 10.6sec quarter-mile at 134mph, top speed over 200mph."

Thats some serious action out of a 7th Gen!!

The Fensport link article has it at a lower rating but it doesnt say what amount of boost they are running.

Regardless its still a MEAN MACHINE!!

Afraid so they don't use the Search.

But there was another owner on here who had low 12's with a front wheel drive celica used a similar 3SGTE engine, was a vid on Utube had a dent on the bonnet.

You also also got sub 10 secs Celicas Titain motorsports also that other Drag Blue thing from Cyprus I think. Both very quick. 5 or 7 seconds. But running performance 2JZ Supra engines or something both of those woudl pi$$ all over the fensport celica time and time again, but not on the street.

If i'm honnist thou. a single person doing this woudl get my respect more so than a company who obviously have more money and the means of easily producing quick times.

The 3sgte is a pretty nice engine (I have one in my mr2) but it was stock on some of the older celica all tracks. A lot of people just use the fwd transmissions available to avoid making holes in their cars and spending all their money. In the older celicas it is a bolt in swap, however I'd imagine in a 7th gen it would take a bit of fab. Also in case you get the bright idea to do this, the mr2 engine IS different in some ways and if you get an mr2 3sgte you will have to find some random parts to make it more like the celica one.

lol 500 hp with 2zz.. I'd rather do an engine swap than turning the 2zz fwd car into a 500 hp machine.

Yea except that fact that there is no engine swap that is better! 2zz is the only way to go in our cars..
