Some new PFC #'s

Just wanted to share some recent #'s I've come up with tuning local cars. Not so long ago me and FrauGTS made harness to make the PFC work in Corolla/Matrix XRS's in order to add a new option to standalone tuning. This is one of the results we came up with tonight at the dyno.

Went back to the dyno today for some fine tuning. Last time we left with 181whp, but this time I was able to squeeze few more ponies out this car.

Mods:
-Injen CAI
-2.5" Exhaust, Decat, and Cutout
-Hondata IMG
-Head shaved 0.40
-Apex-i Power FC

Tuned by Redliner9k

Enjoy

Weird looking graph...but nice!!! How come the power tapers off like that???

And how much more power do you think you can milk with the PPE race header there?

Not weird at all... it just goes 6000rpm+ since that were the dyno started reading (this was in 4th gear). Power tapers off to 176whp right at the end which is normal. Not enough mods to breathe up there. Power peaks at 7800-8000rpm which is pretty nice.

Very nice work - the smooth curve (notice there is no smoothing on the graph), and the gentle drop off of torque (beyond peak torque rpm) shows good tuning and a good selection of modifications.

I assume that you meant that the head is shaved 0.040 inches (40 thou), not 0.400 (400 thousandths) - and removed the step in the combustion chamber quench pads. That should set the squish clearance much better than stock, and bump compresion, while improving detonation resistance. Do you know exactly how much compression was added (or how many cc's were removed)?

I want to know that too! Did u touch the block to help clearance or only shaved the head?

I don't know the details of the head job, since I was just told that the head was shaved and that was all. What I can say is that the car during a compression test yesterday put down 250psi on each cylinder. Stock should be 200-210psi. So compression was definatly increased.

Any more details of this are unknown to me. I just tune the cars, heh.

That's A high number for stock pistons....on my 12.3 Mahles I have 230 psi, so just shaving the head will increase that much?
I have a hard time believing this....

Well, that's what it throws... what can I tell you? .40mm is a lot in this heads (the most extreme Toyota says you can go). So Mahle's are 230psi? Good to know, now I have some comparative #'s to go from.

Mahle - 230psi
.40mm shave - 250psi
TRD 13.1:0 - 300psi

Great numbers, Red for a sec there I was like, huh 191whp from Injen and a full exhaust?!?! But then I noticed the head shaving...

lol, it's only a matter of time now until the threads of "Mahle pistons or head shave?" start coming in...
