tick/knock *Vid

i noticed my car is making this noise at the valve cover. not sure wut it is.
its been like this since i traded my car for it. i have broken exhaust lift bolt. car runs fine though. gas mileage is fine. hit 400 a tank a few days ago. lift still kicks in pretty hard. changed oil 2k miles ago. never missed shifted. what can this be? normal?

second vid

Thrid Vid(New Spark Plugs *ngk iridium*, New Belt, Seafoamed*no smoke*)
same tick never went away. called mechanic and they said they dont do valve adjustments cuz they dont have the equipment. told me to go to the dealer. of course i refuse.

i hit lift once a while. not often. i think it was broken before i traded my car in for the celi. its super stuck in there. meaning i tried a bolt extractor and it wouldnt come out. but the noise has been there since i got it.

check out the oil control valve thread (OCV) you need to replace your lift bolt as soon as posible and as far as the sound its you vvti cam gear going out. it needs replaced.

While some of the noises I hear could possibly be related to the VVT-i cam gear, I think you have at least one valve that is noisy. Try to make a vid of the car idling by itself without you touching the gas, I'd be better able to listen for VVT-i related noises.

I'll check it out when I'm home, no vids allowed at the office.

Ok I listened to it for a while and it could be the VVT-i camgear. Did you pull the VVT-i OCV plug like in one of my vids to listen if the noise changes? If you haven't done so, do it and check. If the noise changes you need a new camgear. Pulling the plug will throw a CEL but don't worry about it, just plug it back. After a two trip detection logic the ECU will clear the CEL.
I will suggest you get a valve adjustment also, you have a noisy valve, sounds to be either on nr2 or nr3 cylinder. The 2ZZ does have a noisy valvetrain otherwise and with the typical camara amplifications it may sounds pretty bad.
As for the liftbolt, try to get that taken care of, it's a pain to have to do the TSB method but it's your best bet. The 3rd generation liftbolts are doing pretty good.

yup i pulled the plug and no noise change. just got a cel. i guess ill get my valves adjusted when i do the tsb for the lift bolt... i was gonna pay >$300 for the shop to do it but i guess ill do it myself. now that u mentioned valve tick, i remember seeing a line on 1 of the cam lobes. i guess that might be the problem. like a scratch, but im not too sure and didnt take a good look at it.
thx for the help GSBoek and other fellow ng.org members.
