must i use a rubber socket for the spark plugs?

i know the plugs are deep in there, but its expensive to get the rubber socket.... can't i use a regular one, unscrew it, then use a magnet or one of those tiny grabber thingys to pull it out??
has anyone tried other methods besides me buying rubber lined sockets??
thanks

dude there only like 3-4bucks, but if your aiming is good you can try a vacuum hose and try to slide it over the spark plug

You can always get a Lockit socket for $20

Long needle nose pliers should work, like HEN said, that is if you have one or can borrow one. If you have to buy one might as well by the socket then. The advantage of the socket is that you can pull the plug straight out in one motion.
