Trunk 6-Disc CD Changer
Hi all,
I recently bought a 01 Celica GTS and found this site useful site. So, I thought someone here could help me.
When I bought the car, it came with a 6-Disc CD changer in the trunk. I assume that's stock for the GTS since everything else on the car was. The problem is that it was missing the CD cartridge/magazine for the changer. I asked the dealer that I bought it from and no luck. So, I'm hoping that someone can help me find a place to get one.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Where is it mounted? I didn't know that was an option.

It's mounted in the trunk on the far right. I looked for a brand/model, but the "brand" on it Toyota. I checked a Toyota accessory site and found that they sell the changer ($480), but not just the cartridge.

This came with my gt when I bought it..Mine was also at the right, right under the cargo light. I think you can buy universal ones to fit..I'm not sure. I'd still be using mine if I could get it to work with aftermarket HU

I would hit up customer service at Crutchfield.com. They've got a range of CD cartridges for about 30 bucks, two of them are "US Spec CD cartridges, not sure what it means but it sounds universal. They might now which one will fit. Those guys are good. I'm not 100% sure but I read somewhere that Eclipse makes stuff for toyota, and Crutchfield has an Eclipse cartridge.

That's actually a really good idea. I just bought a HU from them that I'm going to put in my car this weekend (hopefully) so I can call their support number. That's one of the reasons I'm asking. If I can get it to work, I'll use it. If not, I'll just take it out.

In that case.....
Does your new head unit read DVD's? MP3's? Put all your favorite music into respective folders/genres/artists and write them a couple DVD's and all you need to do is read one disc, less sound quality loss and more room under the hatch. I plan on doing that soon, I just never got around to it. Heck you can even put some on a couple CD's.

Or get a changer the same brand as the headunit, it'll plug right in and it will prolly cost less than half as much as replacing the toyota one and most likely will be a better unit.

The head unit will play mp3s from a CD/DVD or from a USB drive. If I can't get the changer to work (for cheap), I'll just remove it when I put a sub in the back. But, if I could get it to work, it'd be a "nice to have" thing. Anyway, thanks for the help.
