03+ Conversion: What you need to know.

First off, this is to end all questions regarding the differences between the 2000-2002 and 2003-2005 models, appearance-wise.

03+ Front bumper:
-It will fit onto a 2000-2002 model Celica.
--The only things needed for a glove-like fit:
---03+ styrofoam bumper
---03+ fog lights + brackets

03+ Tail lights:
-There's no difference in application process, baka!

03+ Rear bumper:
-There's no difference in application process, baka!

03+ Sides/Rocker panels:
-There's no difference in application process, baka!

03+ Glass moon/sunroof:
-The glass is a direct swap. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

03+ Black interior:
-Direct swap, however, the 2000-2002 and 2003+ A-pillar covers are different and not interchangeable. Headliners are not interchangeable.

03+ "CELICA" rear hatch garnish/handle:
-Direct swap.
-Comes prepainted in your choice of stock colors for under $100 from Toyota.

03+ OEM HID headlights:
-Direct swap but appropriate HID hardware is needed.

03+ Orange clock and radio:
-Interchangeable.

03+ Gauge cluster:
-Interchangeable.

Correct.

EDIT: You can put 03+ pillars on an 02- dash, but you will need an 03+ headliner.

I ordered my 03 hatch handle from toyota and its just the shell. Its a direct fit yes but it should be worth noting you would have to slowly take toof the ruuber trim and glue it to your new handle. If not the license plate lights will shine through them for a really yachy look. I personally went and bought black silicone to apply the old trim. And obiously the screws will have tto be reused so carefully remove them without overtorquing and breaking them.

also to the farthest left is held by a clip not a screw, careful not to break it!

outside of that, easy to do with a 10mm rachet and star screw driver to unscrew the one screw on the interior plastic handle.

One thing of note for the 2003+ HID headlights, you will need different connectors for them which as far as I know are not sold at the dealer. So you will have to do a little customization. You will also need new wiring for the auto leveling motors if you want those to function as well.

So do you really need to have the Styrofoam bumper in order to fit the 03+ bumper or would it be ok without it?

-Thanks

It's not necessary, but you can't use the 2000-2002 foam for the 03+ front. I only suggest that you use it because sometimes people try to sit on that part of the car which would cause the bumper to flex and possibly chip the paint.

Oh ok makes sense.
Do you know where I could get the 03+ foam bumper?
Would the 03+ Styrofoam bumper fit perfectly?

Thanks for the help

Other than the dealership, I'd look to see if anyone was selling it in the Classified section.

I could be wrong, but I believe the only different between 00-02 and 03+ fog lights is the bracket. 03+ bracket bolted of to my 00-02 GT, but it sat too close to the body that I weren't able to aim the fog light (it would always be pointed down). Fog lights themselves should be exactly same.

^ I hear you can just swap the brackets between the two fogs and it solves the problem.

A member (J-Easy) said that he just swapped the 2000-2002 brackets around; L/R become R/L and it worked.

Try that first.

Otherwise, you just need the 03+ brackets.

I've used '00 brackets on '00 GT with 03+ fog light and it positioned just fine. However I have '00 bumper, not sure if it would work with '03+ bumper.

If anyone else reading is interested, if you are converting to the 2003 front bumper, all you need for the fog lights will be the brackets. The 2003+ brackets are much cheaper than the 2000-2002 for some reason, so they won't cost you very much. The only thing you will need to do is swap the foglights from left to right and vice versa. I don't know if it will give you the ideal light output when you switch them around like that, but they will fit perfectly.

is there any way to get a compilation of pics to go along with the current information, so members have a visual of the differences between the years? I didn't know there was a difference in the tail light's, rear bumper, or side/rocker panels and I'm not even close to a new member. Obviously my first thought is what ARE the differences? What do they look like you know? So now I have to run down this information but it'd be nice if it were already here, and would make this thread more complete. It's definitely a HUGE thing to even have this list as opposed to nothing, that's a huge stride but pics def make it whole. It makes me think how much more helpful this would be for members whom this information is new to, especially though, new members who don't know the differences at all and have to hunt down pics and hope they're good, and prospects who don't own the car yet but know they want one and are looking for specifically this info like what to look out for and differences between models/years etc.

i switched my fog lights bracket around but the lights aimed 45 degree away from where it should be aiming

what is meant to be switch? just the fog lights? or whole unit, fog light + bracket?

I'm not sure if other people have had this problem, but my '00 OEM foam would NOT work with my '03 bumper.

I tried to make it work without any modifications to the foam, but the bumper is having a hard time sitting flush with the fenders... I'm still in the process of shaving that sucker down to make the '03 bumper fit better. It's such a pain in *** because I don't have the right tools..

I should have just bought the '03 foam..

Maybe this its not the right section... do you need to make mods to install a TRD front Bumper on GT 00 Celicas? or just needs styrofoam bumper?

If I recall there's a guide in the installs section with a list of what's needed. Check that out.

Is there a website that I can buy the whole 03+ setup? The person that had the car before me didn't take care of this car at all so the majority of my time and money goes to repairs and fixing stuff I wanna do the 03+ setup and i've been looking online for it and all i have found is stuff like (http://www.autobodyfit.com/products-...2003-2005.html) But i don't know if this is what I need to get. Then they have these things (http://www.trademotion.com/parts/200...agramCallOut=1) and it just gets confusing with what I need and whats extras

Are the 03+ foglights completely different? Or can you just use the 01 housings with the 03+ brackets?

so everyone knows I recently bought a clean body 01 gt matching color to my girlfriends 04 with a beat body. I did a full part swap with front and rear bumpers, seats, all interior dash trim clock down to shifter and I can tell you what Little problems I had.

Keep in mind I parted the car out in only two days. I had after work on a Thursday and Friday til I had to have it gone to scrap by 10am Saturday. I rushed, in minus 10 Canadian winter and alone got everything I wanted done in the driveway except for the hatch.

problem 1: I got the front bumper on (01 bumper installed on 04 with 01 foam) but because my girlfriends 04 had fog lights they wouldn't Allow me to fit the bumper snug until I removed them. Once I did all holes lined up and bam, she fits

problem 2: the seats, the stock black leathers were ruined in our 04 so I decided to use the 01 fabric seats until I could afford better. I removed 04 then fit 01 perfect, everything bolted in the back no issues using stock 01 bracket with seats.

Then I installed the fronts. .. long story short they fit perfect and even lined up like a match made in heaven. i went to buckle up my seat belt and the buckle won't work with 04 seat belts. out come the fabric I didn't have time to change belts or buckle as I only decided to buckle up once I was leaving at 11pm Friday night thinking I was finally done.

problem 3: very minor, Although clocks are the same shape the plug behind is not. 01 clock would not work in 04, had to be changed back.

some easy things, everything pulls apart its a big peace of Lego! The trim around shifter is identical so the 01 standard trim fit our automatic 04 perfect.

All of the trunk plastics, hatch trim, antenna, and most of that are the same. only crappy thing is 01 had gray plastic our 04 had black everything.

anyway if you have any questions about that stuff lmk

All celica housings/foglights are be the same. You will only need the 03+ brackets.
