1zz engine serial number location

I have been trying to find more info on my engine, but for that I need the serial number, its supposed to be a 6 digit number I think. Its not the VIN. And Toyota service manual says that the number is on the engine block, on the right side right above the tranny FOR ANY 1ZZ-FE.
It shares the wall with the 4th cylinder. And I have seen it on other celicas, but MINE DOESN'T HAVE IT THERE!!!! Can anyone help me with this? Anyone who had a 1zz out?

on the other side of engine you have stickers with few codes , but if manual says so code must be there ,maybe just a dirty engine or something is covering it ...anyway only thing that youll get from that number is the plant code

no the engine was replaced after I bent rods on mine, and it was done through the insurance under comprehensive. I have seen the number cast on the jap celica engine before, but they put a corolla engine in my car I believe and I haven't seen that number on other corolla blocks...
