Still in the work in period but it seems like it will pull pretty hard...soon due for an oil change

Nothing on the front is dented. Just probably how it appears in the pic. The car weighs about 1050kg

HI,
His car is like mine...a JDM (japanese domestic market) version. The JDM market cars are lighter than the euro market cars. The car comes standard from toyota with a 6-speed close ratio gear box.
hope that helped.

Thanks xoom after all it was your ride that inspired me to turbo my runx. Currently i'm getting a few things done like my return line and adding a big brake kit. I'll let you know how it goes

Just a quick update guys...my stage 2 carbon kevlar clutch couldn't handle the torque so it was replaced with the act hdg6 that seems to be working very well although a little grabby in traffic.
I am at about ~12psi and it pulls but I have the sti maf to install and I want to go to about 14psi pump gas and 18/20 on race gas. Still no dyno yet though...I really hope they hurry up and get it fixed

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to update some stuff and ask a few questions. Since having the GT28 I have participated in a 1/8 mile event here in my home country and the fastest I got at 18psi was 8.9 but since then I have made some changes. The turbo was changed to a GT3071r with a 0.63 ar for the turbine and I changed my final drive to the 3.9 sold by MWR. My question is though why is this turbo not so popular with the forum? Most people have the GT28rs, GT2871r, or in the other cases the GT3076 or bigger any particular reasons why this is the case?
My setup now feels great and the gearing now seems to perfectly match the turbo. I'll see what it did when I get back to the track there is supposed to be a 1/4 mile event coming up

8.9 is respectable, needs more boost or some NAWZZZ. seriously though, are you running a street tire or drag tires(radials or slicks)?

8.9 was ok in my book...I was tuned for 20psi but I never turned it all the way up. I used hankook ventus Z209 T90 compound tires (intermediates).
I think it will be a major difference with the gt3071r. Any slicks you recommend?

I already have the GT3071 and I am not chasing anything over 400whp so I think that turbo is good enough for my goals. Tumagts had the 3076 and he reached that power level easily with moderate boost and was not even in the real efficiency range of the 3076.

Guys I couldn't make the last meet my clutch was slipping very badly so I now have the ACT XTG4 from monkeywrench, that should hold me up for a while. There is another meet on October 15th and i need to get in some tuning and testing by then but currently I am in New York. Has anyone here run nos with boost besides GTS*Jason, I think bt216 did but I'm not clear what wet kit or jet he used.
GTS*Jason...What size drag radials do you run...I'm about to order a pair of Hoosiers (225/45/17) so I just wanted to know

Xoom I was wondering what became of your car. Is it still working well? I have decided on the Hoosier 225/45/17 radials. What tyre pressure did you use?

yeah mate .... all is still well ..... still running strong ..... i just dont have the time i used to have to get to the track and stick around the car scene .... good stuff with the hoosiers ..... i ran them @ 14psi but what i did was started @ 17psi and dropped 1 psi on each run to find the best pressure. In the end my fastest times were when i had them @ 14psi

Thanks for the info. I'll start around 16psi and experiment from there. Good to know everything is still great with the car

Hi Everyone,
I was tuning for my last drag event and lost 3rd gear at 21psi. I know our 3rd gears and final drive are weak. I had already changed the final drive and I was looking at the E153 conversion but the issue is that I drive a toyota corolla runx z, similar to the corolla sportivo that a member called xoom owns. I am not sure this conversion would work out on our cars seeing that we are not the same body type as the celica and our engine bays are not quite the same.
I recall some members having some problems to work around with the celica. My question is though, has anyone replaced 3rd gear and 4th gear with the Jubu helical kit that MWR sells and if so what has been their experience with it. I am looking for a replacement for the gears for drags on 24th March and I am not comfortable with the stock gear anymore. So until I have enough funds and information for the E153 swap any feedback about the gears would be appreciated.
I realized I haven't posted any pics of my engine bay since we changed the manifold to a sidewinder and the turbo to the gt3071r so I am just updating the thread with a pic. Bear in mind the engine bay is in need of a clean up

Your set up is exactly like the toyota matrix, the E153 would fit no problems.

Bajan_speed- Are you running the C60? I am about to do a Auto to manual swap, but I am really iffy about doing it since on 17psi I am at 377whp and I dont think that is safe hp level with the C60. So I am planning on running just my stock setting 7psi or 10psi to be on the safe side. If you do have the C60 what is your experience with the tranny and what stage clutch do you recommend I run? I appreciate any info and feedback

^ I currently have 402 whp with the c60 and obx lsd... No problems so far, although I do get muchs spinning in 1-3 lol... In 4th tough is another whoe story, the car creeps up from 65 mph to about 115 in a scary thrusting way. I have a spec stage 3+ rated for 310tq and drive the car putting in the gears and not slamming them...
Hope this helps!!!

Helps a bunch man really appreciate it...what brand clutch are you running, also I imagine you recommend getting lsd? And I know what you mean about the car finding its way too 100mph scary fast haha, I've had a couple turboed hondas think I was just another notch in the belt on the interstate until we took off...I just drop it in 3rd, spool up, and go for days with this 4 speed auto.

I currently have a Spec Stage 3+. Its a single plate rated for 310tq and a 6puck disc... It's really great for a daily driver, especially whith our engines that produce little torque, we really dont need those double diaphragm plates. As for a lsd, I really would recommend one... My OBX lsd has really proven great, grips both wheels even on corners, and for basically half the money of those others on the market. Good luck with whatever you decide to use!

Interesting turbo placement. Did you do that for a shorter pipe path/length?

So I am planning on running just my stock setting 7psi or 10psi to be on the safe side. If you do have the C60 what is your experience with the tranny and what stage clutch do you recommend I run? I appreciate any info and feedback

I am running the C60. I heard about other people having issues with the final drive and 3rd gear but I had my car turbocharged for almost 2 years and this is the first time I have gotten any problems with the transmission. They are the same gears I had from factory only the final drive and the addition of the lsd since then. I run the ACT XTG4 and it is great, not harsh but good for good shifting and everday use at the same time.

I did it because the original manifold was such a tight fit behind the engine (we have less space than the celica) it was stopping me from putting on a larger turbo sooo we developed a custom sidewinder manifold. Less heat issues too.

I am looking for a replacement for the gears for drags on 24th March and I am not comfortable with the stock gear anymore. So until I have enough funds and information for the E153 swap any feedback about the gears would be appreciated.

If u mean the shape of the corolla then no ..... Pretty common actually. All of Europe and Asia get this shape corolla and they are a big seller in these markets so they are everywhere ..... The US I believe is the only market that doesn't get this shape because u guys get the matrix ..... So that constitutes the hatch model in the US whereas those other markets don't get the matrix.

I know they make noise but being that they are helical I wouldn't think they are ridiculously loud like a wrc car

Ok I got my hands on a LSD E153 transmission and I have the conversion parts for the change from the c60 to the E153. I got tired of waiting for the Jubu gears and I decided not to invest in the c60 transmission anymore. Thanks for the input from everyone I'll be sure to let the forum know how it goes.

So guys I have decided to go with the GTX3076r. What choice should I make for the turbine side 0.63 ar or 0.82 ar
