HELP!!!! My Hotchkis sway bars.....

My hotchkis sway bars squeak a LOT. they make tones of noise. I didn't get any grease from hotchkis (even though the instructions said I should have) so I used some synthetic grease. I greased the bushing before I put them in. They squeaked, so i lossened the anti-roll bar bolts and re-torqued them to proper spec. They squeaked, so I got the grease gun out and re-greased all the bushings with synthetic grease again. And they still squeak. I don't know what to do. They are bran-new, I just got them lest week. Do they need time to settle? do they need a special grease?

Please help.

umm.. are you using a goo grease? or a liquid grease?

the stuff that comes w/the bars is gooey.. not runny at all...

I greased the bar, not the bushing... if that helps

you could also try wrapping the part of the bar that slides thru the bushing with teflon tape

14 lb/ft. is proper torque spec, which is really light. I'll let it settle another week and see. I don't know if my grease would be considered goo or liquid, I know the lower a arm bushings from energy suspension came with a really goo'y almost "sticky" grease. This isn't that, it's not runny at all it's very think, but not "sticky" like the other stuff I delt with.

any more sugestion would be greatly appreciated.

The greese that comes with the hotchkis should be very sticky and thick. Took abit of effort to get it off my hands.

Well, mine squeak at first when I install them b/c I didnt receive any grease with my sway bars. Anyway, I email Hotchkis, and they said they use Mobil 1 Syn Grease for their car. So I went out and bought a grease gun and grease. I greased the bushings and all the noise went away. So is your suspension rattling or squeaking? If rattling, check your endlinks. If squeaking, maybe its your springs, not sway bars. Good luck...

ok, I phoned Hotchkis today and they said that I should take the bushings off, clean them and the bar, and then add Mobil 1 Synthetic Chassy Lube. He said not to use grease but to use chassy lube and that they use/recomend Mobil 1 Synthetic Chassy Lube. I'll let you know if this works and then maybe we can all have squeak free rides.

I HAVE NO MORE SQUEAKING!!!!!!!! YA!!!!!!!

The only shop in town that carries mobil 1 was out of the chassy lube, so while I was checking another shop for it they suggested that I get the energy suspension polyurithane bushings lube (which the hotchkis anti-roll bar bushings are polyurithane). This to me seems like the best solution. I took the bushings off cleaned them and the bar up and then lubed then up with the energy suspension stuff. WORKED GREAT, no more squeaking at all. I got the energy suspension lube from a local shop, I got a 8 oz. tub for $12 I think. They sell them in 1 oz. tubes to I think and thats about all you need.

Hope I helped some of you with the same problem, and thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

The grease that came with the Sway feels like spunk. Try using some of your own, it'll help.
