I need your HELP !! I can't diagnose this problem .. *part out
Hey guys !!!
I took my car to two mechanics, and they can't diagnose what's wrong. On a cold start .. It'll idle really low. BELLOW 1,000 rpms. When I try to take off there's so much lag that the car won't engage. It'll go for a sec, won't catch. I'll have to completely stop .. let the engine warm up, and then everything is working fine. Once the car warms up it's good.
WHAT's HAPPENING??
Someone said it was the tranny .. mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with it. Just got a new clutch .. idk
It wasn't off of a cold start, but you can here the lag in this video on the first take off. (*that's me flooring it !!) http://youtu.be/j47CZjMtZtg
Planning giving it to my lil bro .. just don't want to hand down a problem to come, you know??
Accepting any advice !! THANK YOU !!

I put this in the performance mods because I might use this excuse for a SWAP

Cars behave different when cold always, how long has it been doing it?
- Worst case scenario it could be piston rings, there's always lower compression while the engine is cold. When the engine warms up, the rings expand and make a better seal. Do a cold + warm compression test.
- If it's an automatic transmission it could be the transmission or some sensor, but it doesn't look like you have an automatic. Automatics are known for this kinda thing.
- Reset the ECU see if that helps, albeit probably temporarily
Things like this tend to be a problem with some sensor/ECU , although I'm not sure how to pinpoint it other than the above ^
* edit *
Also if you have an eBay or AEM gen1 cold air intake on it, those tend to bog like you're describing.

This.
Odds are you have a MAF with crap shorted between the hot wire and sensor and it is reading too high, which has caused high negative fuel trims.
Disconnect your battery for 5 minutes. If it starts right up after that its MAF 100%

Could be the idle control valve sticking.
No DTC's will be recorded in that event.

You guys are good at finding excuses to swap engines! Lol just do it or miss shift it if you really really need an excuse (meaning an over controlling girlfriend). Otherwize, fix it. This shouldn't be a big problem. Start with the MAF cleaning, as was already pointed out ... The problem definitely sounds like a wrong air fuel mixture.

OT a bit..When I replaced my mafs the car started right up however I was not able to drive around nor rev the engine at all? The car had to idle for a bit and drive in be driven circles in the parking lot until it was able to go on the street (at this point this is when the check engine light comes back on,always. Did I do something wrong, Are we supposed to clean/reset when the car/climate is cold?

Check your fuel trims. If they are high positive then you are lean for some reason - either fuel pressure, fuel quality, or a MAF obstruction or wiring issue.

Have you bothered to see what the check engine code is? Don't know if they allow it your state but here they used to allow you to go borrow an OBD scanner from an auto parts store while they held on to your DL. Plug it in, get the code reset it. Try again with the car and if you get the same code, you go look it up, unless the OBD scanner tells you.
