Is this ebay exhaust a replica of something?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-2001-20...190a17&vxp=mtr
Is this a replica of another exhaust and if so which one? I tried looking at other exhausts and the piping and hangers seem to match an apexi N1 Evo but the muffler and tip are different, it seems to match more the apexi WS2 But I can't find any piping pictures to compare it to, I only found pics of a damaged one and it was just the first little bit of pipe.
I was looking at getting a custom cat back exhaust made but the quote I got was nearly $400 for crush bent piping, so I Figure buying this and having the shop look over it and fix any issues will get me a higher quality of bends and pipes for a much lower price and they will just do the resonator section but in mandrel bends, If I don't like the sound or the muffler gives out then the design allows me to replace it with a Dynomax Super Turbo like I originally wanted I'm just trying to see what sound to expect from it which I assume I could find something like what I should expect if I find out what it is copying...thanks guys for any info the boards have helped alot!

I was going to to one custom made but the quote was $360 without a resonator (Can I just reuse my stock resonator or why would I buy a new resonator, do I need a resonator at all?) and without a tip, or $395 still without a tip. That was 2.5" piping and all crush bent and probably not stainless but it may have been...by buying this axle back I'm getting basically all mandrel bends, stainless pipe, and 2.5" piping...the only crush bend I would have would be with the resonator section and even that I could get mandrel too since the shops here can do mandrel...This is the cheapest route while maintaining the highest quality, I don't understand why crush bent is so expensive for our car I thought a system should be less then $200 but apparently not....hell even for just the resonator section crush bent in 2.5 they wanted $168 with a resonator (about $125 without) and I install the axle back or $227 with resonator and they install it...I was like it's 4 bolts?? I figure if I hate the sound of this I'll cut off the muffler and put something better on but the piping should be sound...what have you guys been paying for your crush bent systems and what did that include? was it axle back or cat back? Thanks alot guys...and yes the back tip area resembles a GTS because of the can and tip there but the piping is way off....piping and hangers match up exactly to an Apexi N1 EVO but the back tip area resembles the Apexi WS2...maybe it's a replica that takes from both? What the hell is that can near the tip btw is it a second muffler? a strange looking resonator? Thanks again guys I appreciate the help

Well, not JUST in that sense... It was a few years ago. But just google around, might get lucky and find someone that still carries it.

Well I've decided to go ahead and buy this exhaust, it's hard to beat $128 for stainless pipe and mandrel bends all in the axle back area, the shop I'm using said at worst they'll need to redo a weld maybe. When I get the exhaust installed hopefully by friday I'll let you guys know what kind of quality it was and how the sound is so people can know what kind of quality these are...although for custom jobs it seems hard to beat at least around here...$128 for this and maybe another $100-150 for the catback section of pipe and mandrel bends and install...hopefully the sound is good but worst case I'll switch out the muffler...

Cool that you decided on what you want. But dont expect that exhaust to be very loud my man. In all honesty, most cheapo eBay exhausts aren't very loud, and fitment may be a little off out the back, but every one iv heard sounded decent. Iv seen that one, the no name evo2 knockoff (which sounded pretty damn good), the n1 generic ones, they were all ok. Iv been waiting for someone to post a soundclip of the bosal aftermarket exhaust, just to see how quiet it is

I like the style of that exhaust. Looks like an uprated version of the GT-S exhaust for sure. It'll probably have a good deep tone to it since it replaces the huge resonator(?) on the stock system.
Let us know how it sounds.

actually dead_star that all makes me feel a lot better, because I really did not want to have a very loud exhaust at all, basically just a hair above stock or so the evo2 and the likes were the systems I was looking into before I got the tip to sort of piece together a custom one from something like this...
Zero I agree I really like the style too, I'm sure the tip is probably 4" but I'll just have to be ok with that, was really hoping for 3.5" or 3" may try to paint or powdercoat the tip black to make it appear less prominent...
I know the TRD exhaust and most after markets are 2.38" piping I think this is 2.5" piping in this case what size piping is best for the resonator section? I ask because mine is damaged and needs to be replaced anyways so might as well upgrade the pipe now if it will be better overall for the system or performance, what have you. Thanks again guys I will post an update on this exhaust for you guys!

I got a magnaflow high flow cat a couple years ago, cause I wasn't gonna pay for another oem one when mine took a dive lol but yes otherwise I probably would have done that too just because I'm already in that area of the car you know?

not yet should be here on Wednesday so hopefully by Thursday I'll have an update, how much does the stock exhaust weigh anyone know? Fedex says this is a 32 pound package...

You must mean the muffler, the stock resonator is closer to the middle of the exhaust and isn't touched when installing an axle-back system.
The exhaust he purchased seems to be similar to the TRD/Magnaflow/Megan layout, keeping the same design of the stock system except making the muffler a lot smaller. This one seems to have a mini resonator/silencer right before the tip though so I'd expect it to be fairly quiet.

I got a chance finally to get the exhaust installed and all that, I ended up leaving the stock resonator on and doing that section in 2.5" with a mandrel bend....I asked about how the install went and they said that for the most part the system was pretty good quality, and they definitely liked the look and sound of it, but that there was one bend that was just clocked completely wrong, they had to cut out that section and replace it with a mandrel bend because otherwise it would have thrown the whole thing off...but besides that one section it bolted up just perfectly. (which frankly was expected they said usually with these types of systems they are usually good quality but just have a minor issue that needs sorted so this was that issue and I knew that going in so I was not at all disappointed)
Especially because I did leave the stock resonator on, this system is EXTREMELY quiet! Obviously it will get a little louder over time, but frankly it was EXACTLY what I personally was going for, it has an aggressive tone and doesn't sound cheap at all (the exhaust guys even commented on how much they liked the tone) It is not as quiet as stock but is exactly one hair above the stock sound....during acceleration I can hear just a little bit of it which makes it very fun to drive with, however at cruising speeds it doesn't drone.
The tip is a little bit big for my taste but it actually doesn't look bad, it is a little over four inches left to right but vertical is a little less then 3.5 inches I think. Basically I'm just letting you know it not a circular tip it is actually oval...I will either end up painting it or powdercoating it a black color or when I get some more money and after some of my other projects I may just have something else welded on...For all I know it will grow on me but for now that's the plan...
Anyways overall I am very happy with the purchase in my case it all came out as expected, I love the sound of it, and for $128 it's hard to beat! I'll try and get a sound clip up for you guys

The price quotes the rest of you got for custom pipes is a little ridiculous imo/experience, though I havnt had the time/budget to look at such for my Celica. But when I had my Impreza Rs Coupe I bought a canister(aka Rice Cannon) for it & then took off the stock pipping from the Cat to the back. I took it to meineke & they built me a custom strait pipe for the Can for like $150

I once had a custom system made for my Acura Legend it was crush bent piping then however I remember it being fairly cheap like yes in the $100-$150 range after I supplied the muffler, and was astonished how much the mandrel bending was let alone crush bending for my celica...can't tell if price went up or if this system costs more due to more bends and more extreme bends etc...obviously not including mandrel versus crush bends but meineke wanted $950 I think for a whole new system on this car saying we've got some crazy types of pipes and weird sourcing etc I was like no thanks...who knows about the pricing seems to fluctuate wildly frankly...
