GTX Series

Ok this is my situation, I have a buyer for my turbo (gt3071r) who made an offer I can't refuse and I want to go with something bigger for the drag strip. This is not my daily driver and I am looking for about 500-550whp. Has anyone thought of installing or installed any of the gtx series turbos from garrett.

I am split between the gtx3076r and the gtx3576r. I have been reading that the match up betwen the compressor and turbine on the gtx3576 is better than that of the gtx3076 but there is not very much info out there on the web since it seems this turbo is relatively new.

Is there any feedback from the 2zz and 1zz community about any experiences with these newer turbos. I am fully built now and my supporting mods are in my signature. Any advice and useful information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Any reason it must be a garrett?

Just don't want to change from what I have had good experiences with. I was looking at precision turbos as well but it seems they are not as reliable, most people seem to be saying

Go with the 3576, I have no direct experience with the gtx turbos but from what I have read they are better than their gt series. shoot me a pm, I might be able to get you a good deal on one too

I made 500whp at 21psi on a gt3076r with room for more. A gtx3076r should make 600whp+

Match the turbo to your HP and boost goals, there is no reason to go with a larger turbo if you are never going to need the airflow it can produce.

I know the gtx3076r sounds good but I heard it spools just about the same as the gtx3576r and makes less power. I am not against the gtx3076 just making sure I process all information. I would think if I am going with the gtx3076 the 0.82 a/r turbine would be the better choice for drag? Since I am not that concerned with a fast everyday spool up?

This is the link to the claim that the gtx3076 isn't as good as the gtx3576

from what I've read, the gtx3076r will spool similar to a gt28 and the gtx3576 will spool similar to a gt3076r

I heard the spool times in the GTX series are supposed to better or similar to a turbo one size smaller. The GTX2871 is supposed to have the same spool of a GT28RS etc. I also read that if you're going to be running 20+ PSI then you will hit the "sweet spot" and see the biggest increases from their GT counterparts. They're quite expensive though and I think you have to buy something separate to make them work. I can't think of the right word right now.

The turbine housing comes at an additional cost unless you reuse the appropriate turbine housing from your previous turbo
