Project No. 1 "Got butterflies in the stomach!!!"

4th gear runs…

I need to test this thing totally stock before I go any further, that way we all have something to compare our upgrades to in the future. And I don’t have to play guessing games.
This test will be bone stock with the use of Mobil 93 Octane in the tank. Nothing has been changed as far as the oil or any filters go. I have about 1000 miles on the odometer, so the motor is still green around the gills. I expect it to be slightly under what it can produce after say about 4000 miles. But this isn’t a bad point to start. I took it down to EIP Tuning in Westminister, MD which happens to be about twenty five minutes away from the house. So it not a long drive either. Gets the tranny and motor warmed up enough. I have specifically asked the guys at EIP to take my baby to redline. and thats it. I don’t like to bounce it off the rev limiter. Especially when the motor is still very new.
The numbers are right in line with RMM. All dynos will very slightly also. So you probably won’t get the same reading everywhere. Also this dyno pull was taken in 4th gear. Now we all have something to compare to when working on our upgrades. Also remember my motor is still considered green because it has just turned 1000 miles!! So it will produce more stock in the future once the motor wears the rest of the way in. And I can see a few more ponies if I left this thing stock!!! Fat chance of that!! LOL
But totally stock @ 1000 miles it pushing 153.3 horse and 114.9 ft/lbs of torque! Not to shabby.

Very small increase with max output if you take the butterfly valve out. .2 horsepower and .8 ft/lbs of torque. The good thing is the improved low end torque which is about 2.5 ft/lb.
I am sure a lot of us have taken it out already and been listening to the different noises the intake makes now! And the seemingly better throttle response!!! I am sure we expected more out of this. I know I did!

5th gear runs…

Well we had some time left over from my half hour that my Visa card had allowed me on the dyno So I wanted one more run in 5th gear without the butterfly valve in it for the heck of it. I wanted something to work with! It was disappointing thus far. But we setup it up for more run!

And to my surprise without the butterfly valve the car made an extra 2.9 horsepower for a total of 149.6 and 3.8 ft/lbs of torque for 113.3 and out did the totally stock airbox the whole way!!! Great for high speed daredevils and radar friendly drivers. So this is good! With about 4 more ponies across the board and 3-4 ft/lbs of torque also most of the way!!! I can’t wait to verify what the RMM intake can do for us over this!!! That’s where things will get interesting!!!
