Celica Hatch Handle Install Guide

 

Tools Needed
1. Philips Screw Driver
2. 5/32" Hex Key
3. Ratchet
4. 10mm Deep Socket
5. Black Electrical Tape 
6. Flash Light (optional)

Parts Supplied
1. Carbon Fiber Hatch Handle
2. 9 Washers
3. Plastic Edge Molding

Instructions

1. Open the trunk and locate the interior handle and remove the philips screw. Once the screw is removed, remove the handle itself.

2. Remove the interior plastic covering the hatch. Pull on the corner of the cover as shown in the picture below to remove plastic cover.

3. Locate the all of the 10mm nuts that are securing the stock handle (total of 5). Location is marked by red arrows.

4. One all the nuts have been removed slowly remove the stock hatch handle by slowly pulling out from the side marked below w/ a red arrow.

5. Remove the bolts off of the stock hatch handle by slowly tapping them out of the holder. 3 of them are silver and 2 are gold.

6. Use the 3 washers on each of the two gold bolts and 3 on one of the silver bolts.

7. Use the 2 gold bolts to secure the latch and one side of the key chamber.

8. Use electrical tape to cover the top of the license plate lamp. Sorry for having to switch from the yellow Celi to the blue.

9. Line up the new Carbon Fiber Hatch Handle. Make sure that the plastic edge molding and is allowing the piece to be flush with the trunk. Use the hex screws provided to secure the CF Hatch Handle. Hand tighten first then use the 5/32" hex key to tighten the screws. But make sure that you NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS!!!
