2JZ powered Volvo 240

Supra powered Volvo 240
Quote:
Specifically, this appears to be a post-85 245 with a 2JZ-GTE inline-six likely borrowed from an MK4 Supra. If it's untouched, it should put out the then-maximum Japanese 280 HP.

.

It's the first time I've seen a 240 with a 2JZ, usually Volvo enthusiasts in the US transplant a Chevy LS crate engine. Anyways, I like it. A lot.

The engine looks largely untouched, which means it's around 320hp at the crank which would be around 260whp.

A bit higher than that.

Usually I've seen JDM 2JZs dyno at 260whp, but USDM 2JZs are tipping close to 300whp.

I was basing myself on the engine being a JDM 2JZ. The location is unlikely to be the US, based on the plates.

Does the US Supra 2JZ really dyno that high? I was expecting more around 280whp?

Look at the sign behind the car... I doubt that is a USDM 2JZ

those cars are so f'ing cool.

I'd have gone with a SBC crate myself, but there's nothing wrong with the 2jz

idk why you'd swap out the v8 in the E92 and go with the straight 6... all of them are great! they seem to fit so nicely in there

well, the 2JZ is proven to be able to hold a lot of peak power. Too bad the power delivery on this motor is pretty poor.

nobody's boosted that BMW V8 yet (BMW does have a twin turbo V8 on the market right now) so they don't know its limits. - but it does have individual throttle bodies which might make things difficult.

That looks amazing!

Personally, I would put in an m70 in any of those platforms over the 2JZ.

There are actually a number of kits available for the V8 already with people having had the kits for a while now. However they are running low boost under 7psi as far as i remember.
I think GPower is around 500whp and ESS is around 600whp.
700hp kit in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht8R-...layer_embedded

They also have stroker kits, cams, intakes, pretty much everything.
RD sports stroker gives about 420hp.

I would stick with the new V8, i think mild boost and 500hp would be enough :P

I thought the stock car already came with something like 414 hp . . . . .

in reality though, a chipped/bolt on 335i will smoke an M3 (in a straight line).

Truth + a chipped/bolted (dinan?) 135i

LOL @ the delorian. but why would you mount it in the rear facing backwards? Curious to see how they are going to run the rest of the drivetrain with the trans pointing forwards (assuming that's what they're doing and not going full custom)

on second glance... they made it a FWD car? wtf?! and how many miles of intercooler piping do they need? yeesh! woulda been better suited with a 2zz/E153 swap

Are you on fvcking glue?

He is using a standard DeLorean transmission with a different bellhousing. the car remains RWD. And from the factory that is how the engine is set up.

anything is possible, but nothing is going to be a direct swap.

School should definitely be your top priority. Doing a 2JZ swap can always wait.

Well, whenever you get done building your 7th generation 2JZ Celica, it will be added to this thread.

in reality though, a chipped/bolt on 335i will smoke an M3 (in a straight line).
Sorry wheel* HP for those figures. Stock they put down around 350whp.

Yeah a modded 335i will beat a M3, but then again a modded M3 will beat a modded 335i. Once you start modding anything is possible.

The guys on the M5 forum have amazing shoot out vids comparing modded 335i, taking on GT3s, M3s, each other, AMGs and other exotic euros. Its pretty cool to see some of the tests they put up and how well some cars do.

Mmmm S2000
