Another report has Ferrari claiming a 1000kg weight.

lol its just a dodgy photo shop. Looks like mostly an edited 458.

If you have seen vids of a FXX or even an Enzo at the track you know its already an absolute track weapon. To drop some significant weight the new super car will be just crazy.

we'll see what happens.

I'd prefer an all new platform rather than an enzo derived one.

they're not going to delay turbo lag and achieve the instant response of their other cars because their other cars used flat plane v8s - which are what makes a Ferrari a Ferrari. That instant response, willingness to rev, and insane noise coming from behind the driver.

even cars with direct injection and variable vane geometry plus twin turbos still suffer that fraction of a second of lag.

The rendering looks amazing, they should definitely aim for that or something similar for the production version.

Update!

2012 Ferrari F70
Quote:
Ferrari’s new mid-engine supercar is slated to succeed the mighty Enzo.

Using knowledge gleaned from its Formula 1 race machines, the FXX Enzo-based track car, the FXX Mille-Chili lightweight concept, the 599XX track car and the 458 Italia road machine, Ferrari has much at its disposal. The Mille-Chili from 2007 gave a clear indication of Ferrari’s new path to achieving ultimate performance: a much lighter vehicle through greater use of exotic materials such as carbon fiber. Incidentally, “mille chili” refers to 1000 kilograms (about 2200 lb.), the target weight for the F70.

Unlike the naturally aspirated V-12-powered Enzo and the F50 before that, the latest word is that the F70 will switch back to a twin-turbo V-8 as seen in the F40. Only the F70’s direct-injected engine will use the very latest technologies to eliminate turbo lag, achieve 670–700 bhp yet return excellent (for a Ferrari) fuel mileage and low emissions (a hybrid powertrain is unlikely for the F70, due to the system’s inherent added weight). The F70 should reach 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. The target top speed of over 230 mph is reached with an array of drag-reducing active aerodynamic features.

2013 Ferrari Piero

2013 Ferrari Piero
Quote:
It took more than three decades (and his wife's death) for Enzo Ferrari to officially acknowledge his extramarital son, Piero Lardi Ferrari. Piero is now deputy chairman of the Italian automaker and owns ten percent of the company, but if there's any lingering doubt of his belonging in the family, it should be banished by 2013. That's when Piero joins his father and half brother, Dino, with a Maranello-made sports car bearing his name.

Based on our spy illustration (right), you may have guessed that the Ferrari Piero is the successor to the 2002-2004 Enzo and follows closely to the same formula: a mid-mounted engine, carbon-fiber construction, and a price of well over half a million dollars. But there's also something different, and it's a big deal: turbocharging. In an effort to increase performance -- the Enzo made 650 hp and ran to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds -- and reduce emissions, Ferrari will certainly lower displacement and will likely drop the cylinder count below twelve. Of course, engineers are also looking for places to cut mass, which could mean a sub-3000-pound curb weight for the Piero.

Turbochargers?! Boosting isn't a new thing for Ferrari -- both the 288GTO and the F40 used twin-turbocharged V-8s -- but this time it's about power and fuel economy. Ferrari will look for mild performance gains while making significant strides in consumption and emissions.

Why do they want to make cars that looks like ugly fish?
Also gay they naming it after the son. The Enzo was supposed to be special, hence using Enzos name in recognition of a great car and man.

Should go back to numerical naming.

Ferrari 599 Replacement

New Ferrari GT revealed
Quote:
Ferrari 599 replacement will get a 700bhp 6.3-litre V12, new gearbox and lighter weight for stunning performance

Ferrari will unveil a replacement for the 599 GTB Fiorano at the Geneva Motor Show next March – and the new two-seat supercar will be more powerful and lighter than before, making it one of the company’s fastest-ever models.

Prototypes of the new car, codenamed F152, have already been spotted near the firm’s Maranello base in Italy. They’re said to be putting a new engine and transmission, developed from the FF’s, through its paces.

And that’s one of the keys to the new car’s appeal. Positioned as an out-and-out hyper GT, the new 599 will feature an even more powerful version of the FF’s 6.3-litre V12 direct-injection engine, producing 700bhp. That will make it the most powerful car in the range, with 50bhp more than the FF and 88bhp more than the current car.

Unlike the FF, it won’t feature four-wheel drive – all that power will be sent to the rear wheels through the FF’s seven-speed twin-clutch transmission, with an F1-style electronic differential.

Sales of the new car will start in late 2012, and the price is set to increase from the current car’s £212,000 to around £225,000.

Next Ferrari 599 spied testing
Quote:
This heavily-disguised Ferrari mule is believed to be the first sighting of the next Ferrari 599. The new supercar will be the most powerful road car in Maranello’s history, possibly producing as much as 700bhp.

“If you look at where we went from the F430 to the 458, and from the 612 Scaglietti to the FF, it is not hard to see where we want the next 599 to be,” said one insider close to the project. “We are not looking for a small step.”

Ferrari 599 successor previewed ahead of 2012 Geneva unveiling
IN FERRARI, NEWS, RENDERINGS ON DECEMBER 13, 2011 AT 9:53 PM

The next-generation ‘F152′ Ferrari 599 successor is set to be unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. According to Italian website, alvolante.it, this is what it will look like.

Borrowing very obvious design cues from the four-wheel drive four-seat Ferrari FF, the website claims that it has seen insider imagery of the next-generation Ferrari 599 and recreated its layout into this preview rendering. However, the site is in Italian, so we may have lost some of the finer details in translation.

Judging by the rendering though, it looks like Ferrari will be adopting its latest design language to the Ferrari 599 successor, a language that is also seen in the Ferrari 458, California and FF, particularly around the headlights and the headlights themselves.

The lower fascia features a wide-open grille with spaced-out box sections, like the FF, while up the sides there’s swoopy cutaways in the doors which blend into heat-extracting vents behind the front wheels. The contours then flow over to a curvey coupe rear end.

As for the power of the Ferrari 599 successor, it will feature a revised version of the 6.3-litre V12 engine as seen in the Ferrari FF. It features technology such as direct injection and will, according to Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa, output “more than 700hp” (522kW).

Of course, we’ll have to wait until official word for further concrete details. All will be revealed in just a few months at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. We’ll keep you posted on any updates prior
The current 599 looks way more aggressive then this rendering. Smiley face ftl.

Depends which model. The current GTO is way more aggressive than that rendering, but the current 599GTB (base model) is less agressive

Update!

Sneak Preview: Ferrari
Quote:
At present, the R&D team is busy putting the finishing touches on the new 599. The next top-of-the-line GT retains the current front-engine layout and the familiar transaxle gearbox. The main detail change concerns the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic we know from the rest of the range. Lower, lighter, and tied down by ground-effects aerodynamics, the two-seater will be powered by a V-12 that is expected to develop 700 hp. The same engine is slated for the Enzo replacement, which may be badged F70 and is set to bow this fall. The normally aspirated engine is said to displace 7.3 liters, and the maximum output of the high-revving unit will be a whopping 800 hp. On top of that, there is a KERS package that includes a 120-hp electric motor for a grand total of 920 hp -- or for zero-emissions travel.

Since the weight target of the carbon-fiber supercar was clearly inspired by the Millechili (1000 kilogram, or 2200 pound) concept, the F70 should come close to the track-only FXX, which weighed 2550 pounds. The F70 could potentially be quicker off the mark and faster overall than the 1001-hp Bugatti Veyron. On a sadder note, it may be the swan song for the V-12, which in all probability will eventually be superseded by a twin-turbo V-8.

Satchel in hand and jacket over the shoulder, Felisa fields one last question. "No, Ferrari won't do a four-door sport sedan. We won't do a crossover, either. That's Maserati turf."

Ferrari F620 599 successor warming up for Geneva debut?

Although it is not yet official, the Ferrari 599 successor, codenamed the Ferrari F620, is set to be unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show early next month. It will feature a powerful V12 engine like its predecessor.

Ferrari is yet to name the new grand touring coupe, however, international media have said it will be called the Ferrari 620 GT. It is believed the new model will be powered by a 6.3-litre V12 engine, similar to the one seen in the Ferrari FF.

Using technology such as direct injection, power levels are expected to be up around the 522kW mark (700hp). Power will be sent through a dual clutch seven-speed automatic sports-based transmission, and into the rear wheels.

Even though Ferrari hasn’t specifically said the new model will be on display at Geneva, Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo recently said that the company has big plans for the show, with the unveiling of a “revolutionary new car”. He said,

“We now have a complete range of models which will be joined in a few days time at the Geneva Show by a new 12-cylinder. A revolutionary new car that delivers extreme performance and unprecedented power output.”

A sketch purporting to showcase the styling of the new model has been circulating on the internet, showing an aggressive new design. A spy image has also surfaced, showing, reportedly, the rear end design of the new coupe in prototype stages.

We’ll have to wait until March 6 to know for sure. Stay tuned.
I like the sketch, the spy pic im not liking too much but it is pre-production so obviously not 100% set.

Ferrari ‘F70′ Enzo successor to have 920hp (686kW)

It’s almost time for the next installment of Ferrari’s anniversary special supercar, yes, the Enzo successor. Dubbed the Ferrari F70, word in the industry says it will get a 920hp engine.

According to an Autoweek report in the UK, the Ferrari F70, if that is what it ends up being called, is set to feature a new 7.3-litre V12 engine. The engine will apparently be based on the new 6.3-litre V12 which is slated to power the Ferrari ’620 GT’ 599 successor, debuting next month at Geneva.

The report says the new Ferrari F70 will produce up to 686kW with thanks to a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and electric motor and battery pack. It’s understood the battery pack will provide 90kW of the total 686kW, but only in bursts as per charged batteries.

Keeping acceleration at bay will be a lightweight body and chassis, made mostly of carbon fibre. Total weight is expected to tip the scales at around 1134kg, which is around 200kg lighter than the Ferrari Enzo.

We expect big things from the Ferrari F70, as this will be the company’s most serious model ever made, using the most advanced technologies the company has ever possessed. The car is likely to receive a high-performance dual-clutch transmission of some kind, as well, offering seven speeds.

This should be an exciting one to look out for. As previously reported, the F70 was set for a 2012 release, however, with no known spy shots of the car, it’s hard to see that happening. Coming from Ferrari though, you never know what the company has up its sleeves. We’ll keep you posted.
7.3ltr V12 and 900hp this thing will be such a weapon, cant wait to hear what it will sound like.

Full carbon fibre body and everything. Most likely will be a stripped down car like the FXX.

Most likely weigh around 3000lbs though

Ferrari 620 GT teaser image and video
By Tim Beissmann | February 22nd, 2012

Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari will reveal its most powerful road car ever next week when the wraps come off the successor to the 599.

The all-new flagship model – widely rumoured to be called the Ferrari 620 GT – will be unveiled next Wednesday before its first public appearance at the 2012 Geneva motor show on March 6.

To build excitement around the new model, Ferrari has released a shadowy image of the front-engined, rear-wheel-drive supercar along with a 35-second clip that gives us a listen to the car’s new engine in action.

The most powerful Ferrari ever is about to take its bow

Details of the powerplant are unconfirmed at this stage, although international reports suggest it could be a 6.3-litre V12 with in excess of 520kW of power. The 599’s 6.0-litre engine generated 456kW, while the 2002 Enzo hypercar produced 485kW.

With Ferrari F1 driver Felipe Massa in the hot seat, we can see paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel, seemingly confirming reports the car will feature a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The car has classic Ferrari proportions and design elements, with a large chrome crosshair grille and a long, low bonnet, and as earlier spy photos revealed, high-mounted circular taillights and dramatic quad exhausts.

Hell yeah!

Their answer to Lambo?

Also, isn't this the wrong thread? I thought this thread was for the limited edition car they are trying to make, not the 599 successor? lol

Sleek. I like it.

Also, motor, the link with the enzo successor is still in this thread. Shouldn't it be elsewhere?
