GSBoek: I don't see the purpose of the vid, Toyota never designed the vvt-i around performance.

OP: What is the Celica designed for then? Etc, etc, body kits etc, etc

Others: OP should have done more research before spending money on the vvt-i then. We know for some time Celicas are limited.

Memphis: What?

Marc, I just want you to know that your child is looking at that monstrous specimen of a feline like, "Please dad don't leave me alone with the cat, he hisses as if to say "You better grow fast buddy" so keep the cat out of my room father dear."

Memphiz' response would be totally appropiate to that
Who in his right mind would shift at 5K in a race. No wonder vvt-i sucks for the OP.

VVT-i sucks in general.

It exists solely to optimize torque throughout the RPM range so as to deliver better in-town performance and fuel economy.

Ok, I guess that doesn't actually suck - its kind of neat (of course everyone has their own version of VVT-i).

It sucks because its not going to give you exceptional acceleration, especially with an "FE" head.

I know when I broke my VVTI (P1349) I saw a decent loss in torque. I think 10wtq or so, I forgot now.
