Building a race car

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but not new to forums.

I work at a pretty cool Toyota dealership that allowed a group of us to spend 10k to build a race. Has to be a Toyota.
There are other dealers we are competition against with the same budget but different brands. (bmw, audi, porsche)

So right off the bat they will have better cars. So the only advantage will be really good handling on the track. This is where I need help.

We are picking up a 2002 GTS for 3k So we have 7k left.

From all the research I have done BC has the best coil and spring rates for this car? True? I want to get the RM's ($1900cnd) but maybe the BR's($1600cnd) would be better and then take the extra money to put toward motor or brakes. ER's Would be best but they are $2500cnd.

I am in Canada, And I have build a few race cars before but never a Toyota.

What do you think?

Other mods panned.
-DC headers
-Custom intake
-2.5 custom exhaust
-stage 1 clutch
-light weight flywheel
-full poly bushing kit
-half cage in car (roll cage)

Still looking in to brake options as well if you have advice.
Thanks everyone.

I know its been awhile but contact round 3 racing on Facebook. Theyve used celicas for years in SCCA so theyd probably have a very detailed answer for you. I think most of the track guys for this car have left unfortunately...

You mean had their password changed and, when they came to the sight, couldn't find how to get it changed and messages supposedly going to support were never answered...

Nobody replied to support requests. I was lucky because I was persistent and finally found a page that offered me a password reset link that worked. Otherwise, I would have joined under another name then seen if someone could get me fixed up. Many aren't/weren't that persistent.

Charley we did end up getting a 2000 GTS.

Talked to round 3 and they said I was on point.

Got the fallowing items.

-BC RAM coils (Wanted ER'S but could not fit the price in the budjet)
-Maga rear camber arms
-Poly bushing kit
-Competition clutch flywheel
-Light weight under drive pully
-DC headers (PPE were to much for the budget)
-Making 2.5" exhaust
-Full oem gasket kit for the motor, T-stat, pulgs, and the 2 lift bolts.
-Power stop pad and rotors (Believe z23 evolution)
-Cold air intake
-Car is gutted
-Roll cage going in next month
-Running stock rims. Unsure of tires yet but they have to be street league for the class.

The car should do pretty well.

Hi there! Fellow Celica racer here...do yourself a favor and use konis not coilovers for shocks...it will be cheaper and just as effective...also easier to tune....as for brakes...use good centric high carbon cryo treated rotors(about $300 for all four)...then call carbotech and get your pads there. Also do yourself a favor and go with a moroso road race oil pan with baffles and also has 6 quart capacity..you will need it if tour doing ANY track stuff....good luck
