probably some sort of panel to redirect the air off to the sides, where the brakes are. guessing it would be similar to the miata's

It needs a CF hood to complement the looks, since the roof is also darkened out.

Now we hope this kit didn't add much weight to the IS-F that's already pretty heavy for a car with such pedigree.
.

A little too extreme for my tastes. The stock version looks better.

Those IS-F's sound mighty mean...through their fake exhaust tips that is...

In any case, out of any FI automatic car to purchase, having one with the IS-F 7 speed gearbox and some suspension upgrades isn't a bad alternative to the better 4 door sports cars out there.

2008 Lexus IS 250 F Sport Follow-Up Test
Quote:
OK, Lexus, Now Where's the Turbo Kit?

What Works:

Great stance; better ride than the IS-F; handles like an IS-F; awesome brakes.

What Needs Work:
Needs more motor; transmission doesn't like to be speed-shifted.

Bottom Line:
Just a turbo kit away from being a true ass-kicker.

* Bilstein dampers
* Forged 19-inch wheels
* Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires
* Cross-drilled brake rotors front and rear

If it were us, we'd buy a certified pre-owned IS 350, take it up a notch with the F Sport parts and call it a day. As we said, we would skip the underhood stuff and the exhaust, instead putting that money toward some Advans or some PS2s. The finished ride will pack a combination of acceleration, handling, braking, comfort, looks and practicality few on the road can match.

I'd like to pick up a used one.

The only thing it needs to make it perfect is the 2GR-FSE engine, why can't Toyota see that?

how on earth can any sane, rationale human being get so excited about this piece of trash when vastly superior BMWs and Mercedes-Benz vehicles exist, for the same price?

the only justification I can see for picking this turd up over one of them is blatant, blind fanboyism.

yes, it is a decent car - but compared to the competition it's 4 years behind and doesn't hold a candle.

I fail to see ANYTHING vastly superior about a comparably priced BMW and I fail to see ANYTHING superior about a comparably priced Mercedes.

Agreed. And I priced out all the comparable Merc, BMW, Audi, etc before picking up the 250.

I've always been one to say that it's NO performer, but to say it's a turd, and does not compare at all to the competetion (at it's price point) is more laughable.

IS-F Evolution
Quote:
Carbon Four Door Sedan

Earlier last year Lexus had been busy working on a higher spec version of the IS-F with initial reports then pointing at increase in overall power up to 435ps and some carbon parts to go along with it. Unfortunately, due to the worsening economy and poor car sales this was put on hold, until now. Fast forward to 2009, post new GTR, and Lexus have stepped into high gear with 2 test mules already been completed and currently going through testing.

Lighter, Better Handling

Sticking to the trustworthy and reliable image, Lexus has decided to stay with the current engine setup and instead focus more on handling and weight loss with the revised version featuring an all carbon updated front bumper, rear bumper and larger rear ‘over-fenders’. Remaining panels will also be ‘carbonized’ to match the revised parts. Continuing the carbon theme and possibly taking cues from the new Spec V GTR, the car will also be complemented with carbon ceramic brakes, again reducing weight and improving brake performance. Putting all of this to the ground new ‘special color sport design wide wheels’ wrapped in 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear tires will come as standard issue. Body colors will vary, but there is a high possibility that the car will come in an all carbon version for all carbon lovers out there.

Couldn't Lexus come up with a more original name? Lancer Evolution ring any bells? Anyways, I hope it sees the light of day.

Update!

IS-F Evolution Pricing Revealed
Quote:
Sources in the know say that at a recent test drive event put on by the maker, the IS-F was rapidly drawing closer to production and has been slated for a summer 2010 release.

All other specs such as the 423ps V8, carbon brakes, carbon interior and updated front/rear+blistered fenders have also been confirmed. The big news is that the car will now only be limited to a special production run of just 500 units worldwide! Numbers for countries have yet to be decided but as with most Japanese makers, Japan will likely receive the lions share. The other big news? Lexus has apparently agreed upon and finalized the price. Don’t hold your breath, but the IS-F will come in at US$250,000, a cool $50,000 higher than first expected.

Unreal. The price that is.

You couldn't get me to pay that for an IS-F even if it was a limited run of one and had a 550hp V10 engine.

Good one.

Seriously though $250,000 for an IS-F, even a limited edition one? I can find better things to do with that money, like buying a garden variety IS-F and mod it beyond the capabilities of the Evolution and still have $150,000 left.

F-Sport Front Brake Upgrade
The Front Brake Upgrade provides a firmer pedal feel and improved fade resistance in repeated severe duty use. The Brake features six piston fixed calipers, and drilled cast iron 355mm diameter rotors with a patented internal fin design mounted on anodized aluminum hubs. Braided stainless steel brake lines and low-dust performance brake pads are included and the upgrade can be used with stock or F-Sport upgraded rear brakes.

F-Sport Rear Brake Upgrade
Similar in construction to the F-Sport Front Brake Upgrade, the rear brake upgrade uses four piston fixed calipers and drilled cast iron 345mm diameter rotors. Braided stainless steel brake lines and low-dust performance brake pads are also included. The Rear Brake Upgrade may only be used in conjunction with F-Sport Front Brake Upgrade.

F-Sport Continuous Carbon CeramicTM Brake Upgrade
A new generation of carbon fiber-reinforced ceramic material technology maximizes high-temperature durability and system cooling in this ultimate upgrade for the IS F. Ceramic rotors measure 380mm diameter front and 355mm diameter rear on anodized aluminum hats. They incorporate the same internal cooling vane concepts as the F-Sport cast iron rotors, while significantly reducing unsprung and rotating mass compared to the IS F stock brake system. Distinctively finished six-piston front and four-piston rear fixed calipers signify leading-edge technology and performance. Specially qualified performance brake pads and stainless steel brake lines are included.

F-Sport Exhaust System
This system features all stainless steel construction with fully polished mufflers and double-wall exhaust tips. In addition to an outstanding appearance, it delivers a powerful, sport-tuned exhaust sound.

F-Sport Lowering Spring Set
This feature lowers the vehicle approximately 1" in the front and rear for a more aggressive appearance and a lower center of gravity. The spring set is engineered to deliver lowered ride height without bottoming out or creating a harsh ride. The feature can be used with either the stock or F-Sport shock absorber set.

F-Sport Sway Bar Set
This includes a set of larger diameter, replacement front and rear sway bars that offer reduced body roll and flatter cornering. Urethane mounting brushings are also included to replace the original rubber brushings.

F-Sport Bilstein Shock Absorber Set
Developed in cooperation with Bilstein and available exclusively through the F-Sport Performance Accessory program, this shock absorber set offers sport-tuned suspension dampening without sacrificing ride quality.

F-Sport Clutch
The F-Sport Clutch increases clamping force approximately 15% to handle higher torque capacity and provide improved feel.

F-Sport Quick Shifter
Engineered and machined from billet aluminum, the F-Sport Quick Shifter decreases shift throw by approximately 30% for positive shifting.

F-Sport Rear Chassis Member Brace
To improve chassis stiffness under aggressive driving conditions and provide a more responsive feel during cornering, the F-Sport Rear Chassis Member Brace joins key rear chassis and suspension mounting points through this tubular steel brace.

F-Sport Carbon Fiber Engine Cover
Constructed from real carbon fibers, this very light and durable engine cover provides a high-tech appearance under the hood. This is a direct replacement for the original cover and is only available for the IS 350.

F-Sport Air Intake
This low restriction intake and filter assembly is fully compatible with stock engine controls and is emission legal in all 50 states.

Lexus Genuine Accessory Ground Effects Kit
For a lower, more aggressive appearance, this color-keyed four-piece body kit includes front and rear valences and side skirts.

Lexus Genuine Accessory Rear Spoiler
This rear deck mounted, color-keyed lip-style spoiler provides the finishing touch for the sport-tuned enthusiast.

2010 Lexus IS 350C First Drive
Quote:
Golf Resort as Motorcar

First Impressions: As always, Lexus thinks of everything.

* 306-hp 3.5-liter V6 for IS 350C
* 204-hp 2.5-liter V6 for IS 250C
* Hardtop retracts in 20 seconds
* Every feature from the IS sedan, plus a few more

As convertibles go, the Lexus IS C reminds you that a hardtop is really what you want when it comes to year-round, go-anywhere practicality. You can drive it every day with the top in place and never feel as if you've made any sacrifice in daily comfort or utility. And then when you peel back the top between cycles at a stoplight on the way home from work, there you are at that Tuscan villa with a view of the ocean.

First review in for the 'vert.

I've got mixed feelings about them.

Update!

IS-F Convertible
Quote:
Toyota’s luxury arm rounds out its roundel-sniping lineup.

The IS F version will hope to rectify that. Powered by the IS F sedan's formidable 5.0-liter V-8 and equipped with a fast-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission, the IS F convertible will aim straight for the BMW M3 cabriolet, and it may give Mercedes reason to consider an AMG version of its new E-class coupe (which is actually based on the C-class, an IS competitor).

As to other Lexus droptops, the IS and IS F convertibles will not replace the SC430.
It was only a matter of time.

That's awesome.

My entire plan hinged on the Humberside Police force chasing me in a vehicle that took in excess of 5 seconds to reach 60 MPH. Damn.

Seriously, an IS350 would have sufficed.

That being said, I want to build a sleeper IS-F: Graft the IS350 hood, fender and front and rear bumper unto it and find a decent sideskirt.

Update!

Lexus IS F clubsport revealed
Quote:
The Lexus IS F Circuit Club Sports features carbonfibre in place of many of the regular IS F’s steel panels. Carbonfibre has been used on the bonnet, roof, boot, front wings, side skirts and rear diffuser.

Lexus hasn’t made many changes under the bonnet, with the only major change being the addition of a new lightweight exhaust system, which boosts the V8’s power to 422bhp.
