some pics of what it looks like. Its not done yet, after it goes on the Mustang dyno, which is already at the same shop.

Aquamist kit is also getting installed, they are building a custom reservoir for water/meth, I don't want to hack a stock one, although I could tap into the stock windshield reservoir and if I need a new one will buy it from Yota, but decide to go custom
just because its already at the shop.

had to modify downpipe that came with the kit it wouldn't clear the rear mount would hit the bolt there. so had to cut it and rerouted

custom midpipe needed to be done as well cause matrix kit doesnt come with it. Also bought a Vibrant cat, and luckily I already had 3" axle back w/Borla Exhaust.
I think its going to be loud with just a muffler and a cat LOL.

maf pipe connection at the bottom needs to be modified as well for better clearance. made better mouting brackets for IC.

installed MWR FPR kit and Walbro 255 had to modify compartment that holds the fuel pump I guess its not as simple as its inside Celica etc...

Garret t28rs I think its a same turbo as yours right Carlos?

No, engine is not built. I only trust Dave in that department it will go to him when time comes, have to wait for my spyder first.

I'll take videos when dyno time comes in next week.

7-9psi of boost should be more than enough for stock internals
I think its safe, plus having an aquamist kit for safety a good thing IMO.

I don't have anymore money for this project got to pay Dave first

its gonna take me another year+ or so to build internals in the matrix. I think that will happen when Dave settles down with his shop etc...

here is what I had to do

Install Supplied turbo
Modify downpipe
Fab 3" midpipe
Fab 3" intake w/couplers from turbo
Modify intercooler pipes and silicone elbows
Changed my cv boot cause it broke on my driver side axle
Aquamist HFS3 Water/Meth Injection System
Custom Aluminum Water/Meth Tank
Install MWR FPR kit w/walbro 255
Install boost gauge that came w/tk.com kit
Relocate battery to the trunk
Dyno tune her

yes you should, I didnt know I had to do that but oh well. thats the nature of turbo install

#9 ·
I was just thinking out loud.
since that rear mount bolt hitting a midpipe can I just reverse the bolt so it faces the other side?
or it only goes one way?

#10 ·
well I guess the rear mount bolt welded in so there is no way of moving that

tk.com needs to look at these pics. cuase we had to modify the downpipe becuase it was literaly hitting that rear mount bolt so we had to maintain the bend and weld in the new parts in.

Damn, even with your alterations to the downpipe it's still pretty close to that bolt.
As long as the engine mounts hold and the engine doesn't move around much you should be okay though. ;)

I have Energy inserts but engine will move anyways
I am thinking to put some kind of heat wrap on that bolt and firewall otherwise I am afraid it will melt the mount.

can someone recommend the material to wrap the rear mount and firewall?

#15 ·
It will def melt the ES rear motor mount. I had the same issue with my Celica. Before i put the new ones in there i am going to have to wrap the downpipe also. I was thinking of just getting the wrap you use for headers with the wire tie downs.

A company called Thermo Tec makes pretty good heat wrap. I used their sleeve inserts on my wastegate line (+ a few other lines) when I did my turbo and they made a big difference. They carry an adhesive wrap type that you can also wrap around anything. Only thing I have to warn you is that it can get pretty pricey though depending how much you need.

#14 ·
cool I'll look into it
Thank you

Kortik who are you having do all you piping and welding? i know you said a shop for less then 1000. what one? im bout to do mine when i get back to WA.

there was also a guy in Lynnwood
8velocitymotorpsorts on hw99 and 216th street in Lynnwood next to Acura dealershi

he can do it cheap but I dont like his quality of work so that's why I went w/Jason
at Addictmotorsprots

Kortik there is a company called DEI as well who makes good wraps and other protective heat shielding goodies. I had to use wrap for my downpipe as well as screamer pipe...the website is http://www.designengineering.com/

#20 ·
cool thank you
its always good to have some options

#22 ·
Yeah. I dont know what was wrong. the shop didn't call me up to let me know they just cut it up. It was purely my mistake I didn't tell the shop to tell me if anything doesn't fit to call me up.

I thought maybe I got celica downpipe instead but I am not sure.

how much is the down-pipe for matrix only?
maybe I just buy it later if I have some heat issues and melting of my rear mount, but I hope with some heat resistant wrap I should be ok don't you think?

some more pics of the engine bay and battery relocate:
final stages of the install aquamist and other stuff.

I decided not to put a turbo timer that came with the tk.com kit but instead invest into Greddy boost controller? maybe I dont know yet if I needed.

Most turbos will cool down fine without a timer. Unless you are running the car insanely hard and then decide to shutdown without idling for a bit, maybe then I can see the oil cooking inside. Do you have a watercooled turbo?

so BOV is pushing air out but does it take air in to the throttle body? if so its unfiltered right?
BOV only dumps out, unless there is something broken. ;)

so whats good to do recirculate into the atmosphere or back into the intake
If you're talking about the BOV vent out (not crankcase vent) you can just let it dump to atmosphere. Venting back to intake will give you a smoother air metering off throttle for tuning but it's not needed. Also, if you vent back to the intake you don't get that nice loud swoosh sound from the BOV. :D

#25 ·
Acually the kit didnt come withe the intake, its all custom.

when I looked at the filter that came with the kit and how its suppose to be placed on the inlet of the turbo, I didn't like it, it was so cramped looking plus it will be suckign hot air, so I decided to build a 3" pipe to it.
I just wanted to make everything right the first time.

one question?
so BOV is pushing air out but does it take air in to the throttle body? if so its unfiltered right? I dont know how to to ask this questions do you know what I mean.

#29 ·
LOL
that question was for you Evil

I believe its a water and oil cooled turbo
