Those aren't coilovers. Those are sleeves that go over your struts. Most of the time, depending on how low you want to go, you will have to cut/knock off the spring perch on the shocks to make them fit.

I've never personally heard of the DNA brand, but seeing as how they are selling the whole setup for under $130.00, I doubt they are any good at all. They also look cheap quality-wise.

For REAL coilovers, be prepared to drop well over $900 AT LEAST.

For sleeves like the ones you posted, look into Ground Control or Skunk2. Those are reputable brands and alot of people use their stuff on here and can vouch for them. Keep in mind that depending on the shocks that you currently have, they might not be able to handle sleeves. You will need aftermarket ones, otherwise, your stock shocks will blow after a few weeks, specially if you have more than 100k miles on your car (which I don't doubt at all).

Have you considered a springs/shocks combo? If you are on a budget, that would be your best bet aside from the sleeves. The sleeves will have a stiffer ride for the most part but springs will be a bit softer.

Answer these questions for me:

-What is your budget?
-What are you looking to do with your suspension upgrade? track? or is it just for looks?
-How low are you planning to go?
-Is your car a daily driver?
-Do you prefer a stiff ride or a soft ride?

Answering those questions will give us a better idea for what to recommend...

Oh wow, thanks for the generous response. I appreciate the feedback haha. I figured the coilover sleeves weren't good quality. I've thought of springs/shocks combo, but I just want the best deal for me. I'm just looking for a lowered car with some better handling. I don't need anything extravagant, just something that'll serve it's purpose well and long. I imagine myself getting a sway bar afterwards.

My budget ranges from 200-500. I'd obviously like cheaper but thats my budget really. I'm going for looks I guess. I don't want a big drop.. Maybe 1.5-2 inches. Somewhere around there. I'm not a daily driver. I just got my license so I drive around but no long rides.
Thanks again.

Springs might be the way to go. I am kind of in the same boat since the celica is a daily driver. I am pondering the Tein S-techs. That might be an option as well. I have seen some go as low as 180 depending where you shop. If you are running on stock shocks, that might also be another part you will need to replace.

Seeing as how you posted that you currently have 220,000km (around 140,000 mi), you WILL need shocks. A shocks/springs combo will be the best bang for the buck in your case.

Shocks will run you a bit over $300. For the drop you are looking to go for, some simple KYB GR2 shocks will be suffice. Stuff like Koni's and Bilsteins are more for performance. The KYB GR2's are known as OEM replacements. There are also the KYB AGX's which are basically the same as the GR2's but offer adjustable dampening, but I heard there isn't much difference between the softest and the stiffest level so I don't think it'll do you much good. Plus, the majority of the people with AGX's adjust the dampening once when they first install it and never adjust it again, so it becomes pointless. It's best to go with the GR2's, in my opinion.

Tein S-Techs - 1.4" drop all around
Hotchkis Springs - about a 1.4" drop in the front and 1.9" drop in the rear
Megan Springs - 2.0" drop in the front and 1.9" drop in the rear
Progress Springs - 1.6"F/1.8"R
RS*R Down Springs - 1.6"F/1.0"R
Skunk2 Springs - 1.4"F/1.4"R (discontinued)
Tanabe GF210 - 1.5"F/1.5"R

Those specs are taken from the Spring Rate Database thread. I just posted the ones that would fit around your drop zone. If you want to find out the spring rates for a specific set of springs, check out the thread here:

The thread is somewhat old and doesn't include ALL the springs available for the Celica, but it includes most. Look around and let us know if you have any other questions :)

Ey, appreciate it. You're all too kind haha
Enjoy it while you can. It won't last long :chuckles:

Jk.

Luckily you posted in the right section. If you were to have posted in the OT section like most newbs do... OMG you would have gotten raped left and right
