I was geting on the freeway and im in my 01 celica gt as i got on i see a CELICA GTS pull up next to me and we are going about 60 and then he slows down to 45sh and we both drop it in 2nd and go for it i thought he would pull from me but no i started slowly going 1/2 a car lenth ahead and we now going 80 85 sh and he starts catching up and we stayed the same until 120 and he starts slowly but not a lot pulling away from me and then he waves and goes off the exit.
my mods
CAT back exhuast,headers, CAI AEM, stage 3 race clutch wit flywheel, AEM pulleys, and chip from ebay that dont do anything.
i also raced a
BMW 318 I took easy
BMW M3 took me off the line and i never caught up
BMW 325IS took him he stayed 2 car lengths in back
ACURA INTEGRA 95 LS with LSD and CHiped ECU we were the same
ACURA INTEGRA 91 same
ACURA INTEGRA LS/Vtech took him of start then he got me when he catched traction
ECLIPES 2001 GT took him
CIVIC SI 99 he took me good he had mods i dont know what tho

GT Eclipse, even auto, is faster than a GT Celica. Your mods are definately working well.

325iS should have put up a better fight.

Good job, either way.

It could have been a manual. There are a few of us on the board that would give an average GTS driver a run for the their money with our GTs.

The GTS was probably a 6 speed. An auto wouldnt even hang with a 5 speed. With his mods he is probably running mid - low 15's. The average 6 speed drivers runs mid - low 15's so that isn't too surprising.

It is surprising to me! Either he could not drive worth it or he has an auto!

He was on the highway, driver skill has nothing to do with it. He probably put it in 3rd at 45mph.

i dont think he has an ordinary GT

headers, no way, I want headers for my GTS. LOL, thats a good one.

believable, my best run with my GT at the track was 15.4. all the GT-S that i see ran was high 15s to in the 16s, crappy drivers for sure, one of them only ran a 15.2 once and that was it for him haha. if i had a gt-s, i'll show them what it really can do. my cousin always race me in his tC, outcome, i win all the time by one car length or a little bit less. my other cuz with a Type R, down to third at 60, pull a car length on him then after 100+mph, he'll pass me but slowly away. a friend with a 94 hatch with gsr swap, same results but pulls slower than type r on me. only mod i got is an Injen CAI w/ bb mod. you guys think is can maybe hit 15 flat if i get a pfc,exhaust, headers?

Even though I ran a stock best of 15.688 in my GT. I Still dont think an intake GT would hit 15.4. But I am still open to that idea.

A GSR Hatch would be faster than a ITR. Should be anyways. Your friends need driving lessons. And if you are hitting 15.4 with an intake, you should be the one teaching them.

As for the mod question, I/H/E netted a member here a 14.7 in a GT. I dont remember if he had weight reduction or not. So, yes, I think i/e/h/pfc could get a GT into the 15.0 or even 1 or 2 tenths faster.

In a GT? or a GT-S? That is a very good time for the GT then. Though it would seem that the 1zz-fe reacts to breather mods, like the Type-S, better than the 2zz-ge.
