Im considering buying one of these to be my dd and giving the celica to my little brother. What are the pro's and con's of buying one, any insights would be appreciated.

The main reason why I want this car is so that i can go snowboarding with it and mountain biking. Not really planning to mod it in any way, maybe just drop and rims...

Then there are really no cons except MPG. Worlds faster than your Celica. It does not have as much room as you think. I'm pretty sure the Celica has more space.

less space than a celica?? i find that amusing...i would assume it would have more space since its 4 doors, truck space wise it might be a bit smaller but i don't think it would make that big of a difference....

It seems like more space and might have more space in cubic feet BUT it's lay out is smaller per se. Since it is AWD the rear legroom and truck room are both small as the cockpit is "pinned" between the front and rear axles. If that makes sense.

Also killing some space in the trunk. Otherwise, no brainer. Do it.

Wrx has cheaper insurance rates and is as fast as sti off the line.

Turbo rebuild will be needed if higher miles

They are absolutely not the same off the line. That being said, a WRX is NO advancement over his GTS if he doesn't mod it.

Great cars,..my twin bro has a 05 WRX....The STi is faster for sure,..and you can make the WRX just as fast as a stock STi but you will be about maxed out with the stock turbo to reach that. The Sti can be made much faster. The 2.5 makes a big difference along with the STIs better turbo. No real need to worry about the engine if it was taken care of. 60K is not bad at all for the engine. The stock turbo will go eventually like every turbo car,.my bro's WRX turbo went with about 100K on it. But they are not expensive to buy used. And changing the turbos out was not that hard of a job.
Cons: Gas Price and Mileage,..o and the unstoppable urge to step on it to feel the turbo spool up.
Pros: Sick sounding car, And a smile every time you put your foot down. And the availability of good hp increases with every mod you do. AWD which always surprises me and leaves me searching for its limit. Haven't found it and I dare not to try any harder.

Its a great car...and the cars fans base is amazing and very knowledgeable. I've never seen a car community so serious about their cars.

Im almost certain acceleration is the same in lower rpms. Look on the wrx forums or vids of stock ones.

I think for the money both are overpriced

The STi can crack 60 in the 4's while the WRX would be lucky to get a low 5 while still having a functioning transmission. That is worlds apart.

Then the fun is over in the WRX as the GTS would burn it from any speed easily.

The 2009 WRX on the other hand are much quicker and have pulled quicker times than the STi but straight line is the only area where 09s excel.
