1ZZ Crank

2252 Views 31 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  GSBoek
I recall someone telling me that if I put a 1ZZ crank into my 2ZZ engine it will become stroked to 2.0 litre. They also mentioned something about the compression ratio getting higher and also quenching problems may occur. I dont remember the full details. lets say I dont have stroker kit money now what would be the best option?

can I get wiseco pistons tailored to meet the correct CR specifications I desire if I put the 1ZZ crank in?

yes you can put a 1ZZ crank in the 2ZZ motor, but you need custom rods and pistons. check out www.monkeywrenchracing.com and look for 2ZZ stroker. its not a drop in thing. you will need a new flywheel also (1ZZ type)
sorry to highjack the thread but would a new clutch be needed as well???? and can someone please tell me how the 1zz is better than the 2zz crank??? i will be doing a motor build for N/A next year and need as much info possible, i want to do the job done right to make the most hp on the N/A side

because, as already stated in this thread, it will raise the displacement from 1.8L to 2.0L
How? if the 1ZZ is 1.8 liter? thanks
^^^ thats what i meant, there is no way in hell that could be possible. the only reason the displacement will increase is by boring it out. not by just changing the crank. i just want to know how the cranks are different and how that will benefit a n/a car. high reeving motor, i always heard with a stroker kit i cant rev as high.
it has a longer stroke. = mor torque/disp.
The crankshaft controls the stroke of the piston.

Displacement = pi x radius2 x height x # of cylinders x .000001 (for displacement in liters)

1zz-fe = 79 mm bore and 91.5 mm stroke [3.14 x (39.5 x 39.5) x 91.5 x 4 x .000001] = 1.79310171 liters

2zz-ge = 82 mm bore and 85 mm stoke [3.14 x (41 x 41) x 85 x 4 x .000001] = 1.7946356 liters

2zz-ge w/1zz crank = 82 mm bore x 91.5 mm stroke [3.14 x (41 x 41) x 91.5 x 4 x .000001] = 1.93187244 liters
i am confuse, so does that mean i don't have to bore out the block? and with this set up. could i do high compression pistons and rev high.

yes, since the stroke of the piston is part of the equation for displacement. and sort of, I think its recomended that you lower the redline just a little..

+1.
short stroke is what allows you to rev high.

thanks guys, I understand it better.
right so the 2zzge with a 1zzge crank is better for F/I setup right?
im looking for high reving and high compression piston, im going N/A
quick question? with all these modification options now available like cams, stroker kit, flywheel fuel management and all has anyone built a 12 second N/A celica as yet?

because those type R Integra fools been hyping about some 355whp N/A DC5 type R Integra that runs 12 seconds and I know we can beat that

I do not think so. MWR has some sick turbo setups. I do not think you could even reach 355whp on a N/A celica, from what I have read. Mabye 250 whp, max. MWR has a turbo GTS pushing 400 hp or something like that, on stock motor.
350 is near impossible for our 2zz. our 2zz can barely even pass 200 whp n/a. People have been barely getting into 13's, and i mean barely. To get our celi into the 12's n/a, you will need some major rebuilding, not to mention costs, cause you are going to need a lot of money, which the power to cost ratio will probably be crazy, you might as well just turbo your car.

That honda has a 2.4 or 2.5 liter engine - never gonna happen in a 1.8 liter Celi motor - 250 is probably the most you'll every hope to see to the tire on a full boogey high dollar race build.
^^^ like he said, the only thing holding celica's back is the 1.8 and not being able to go up more. we can barely bore it to 1.98L and that sucks.
but think of it this way, we are pretty fast for the 1.8 class. i know there is no gsr out there with a bolts on that can beat a celica.
Think about it guys? look at this setup for an N/A Celica.

1)a 2.o litre stroker kit with high compression ratio 12.5:1
3) stage 3 piper cams with power FC
4)port and polish cylinder head
5)Fidanza flywheel
6)Ported Stock Header
7)AEM CAI
8)TRD Kazuma exhaust
9) 6 puck ACT clutch
10) larger Injectors

what do you think would be the results? WHP and 1/4 mile time??
See less See more
Look at the track times, the best time for an N/A celica is 13.6 seconds on the 1/4 and whats the setup?
1) CAI
2)headers
3)exhaust
4)CAm Shaft
5)Fuel Management System

pretty impressive huh?
