2000 GTS keep tripping P1349 code

My 2000 Celica GTS keeps tripping a P1349 code which is a VVT system Malfuntion. The car has like 94000 miles on it. I have just recently had the timing chain, and timing chain tensioners replaced. But I had this issue before but before I had that stuff replaced it was tripping a P1346 code (VVT Cam positioning sensor range/performance problem Bank 1), and also a P1693 (OVC Closed Malfuntion). I am just wondering if the P1346 code could be cause by the ocv being clogged with sludge or maybe even if it has failed please help. thanks

A DTC P1349 will show up if there is a blockage of the oil control valve, oil check valve, or oil pipe No.1.
These are located on the head aren't they and if so which side. I am new to toyota. I wa into hondas for years well thanks.
There is also a TSB that covers your MY GT-S regarding P1349:
Engine - MIL ON/DTC 1349 Set
ENGINE
EG009-03
May 19, 2003
M.I.L. "ON" DTC P1349 - VVTi ACTUATOR
Models:
'00 - '02 Corolla, Celica, MR2 Spyder, and ECHO

Under certain conditions customers may experience a MIL "ON" condition with DTC P1349 indicating a variable valve timing (VVTi) malfunction. In some cases, the cause of this DTC may be the VVTi actuator.

If your VIN is before JTDDY3#T20056831

It looks like they replaced the camshaft/camshaft timing sprocket.

That is probably what I am going to have to do since my VIN is before that. Thanks I hope I can find one reasonably priced.
the thing is my car will also not rev past 7000 and valve timing never kicks in. Just the timing advance at 3500 kicks in.
I am pretty sure I found the problem I pulled off my valve cover today to check my lift bolts and they are just not there. Thier is a place where they go but they are just gone, not sitting in the head no pieces in the head. Its jacked up I know well I will have to invest some time in this but when i am done I know it will be worth while thanks for your help.

That sux! Hopefully, you have no other damage. Were they removed by whoever did the timing chain work?

WHAT? GONE?

If that was Toyota's work take it back to them and stand on their heads 'til they resolve it for free.
holy sh*t..that sux..u better get it fix for free..tsb will take care of it..no charge to u..
i replaced the lift bolts today myself. It sucked the intake side still had a piece of the bolt in it but that is fixed now. But thier is still I problem, still no lift, and the ecu still tripped a code. The thing is the code is for the vvt not the lift, so I will check the ocv for the vvt in the morning after work. And I fixed the lift I think, I hope at least. Any other suggestions? thanks for all of your help
Make sure they didn't reverse the connectors for the OCV's... They can inadvertently swap the OCV connectors for the VVTL with the VVT's.

Aren't the connectors on the completely different sides of the motor. And if that is the case then how would they get switched.
Believe me... it's been done.

where is the oil check valve and oil pipe no. 1 located to be exact sorry I am new to celica's
PM sent
I got the searchable version of the manual. But it still doesn't have anything that tells me where oil pipe # 1 is. I have no idea I am sure this is what is clogged due to the other engine sludge I cleaned out of the OCV.
That doesn't sound good. Have you tried running some Seafoam or other engine cleaning product thru the system to remove/loosen some of the crud?

To your question, which is getting beyond my abilities. Someone with internals experience will probably have to assist ya with a definite answer (1zzfe-man, smaay, Bosted2.0 etc.) I can guess & say that it is either the oil channel leading to the VVT OCV filter (best guess)... from the filter to the OCV... or from the OCV to the VVT mechanism. But, those are only guesses. I prefer that you get a definitive answer.
