After making its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Citroen’s stunning Survolt concept car has made its moving debut.
With Vanina Ickx, daughter of Belgian Formula One driver Jacky Ickx, at the wheel, the Survolt was put through its paces on the famous Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans.
Citroen has motorsport ambitions for the electric-powered concept. Its 300bhp electric motors are capable of powering the carbon-fibre bodied hatch from 0-62mph in less than 5.0sec and on to a top speed of more than 160mph.
That should make it more than fast enough to provide drama in the firm’s proposed one-make race series.
Check this out. Isle of Man tt zero. Full electric motor bikes with a top end of around 130 mph.kinda eerie to see a car drive by that quickly without making lots of noise.
Contemporary artist Francoise Nielly has created the Survolt Art Car. His design adds “a bold, vivid and brightly contrasting new fluorescent paint scheme” to the all-electric racer.
Citroen claims Nielly’s work was one of the inspirations for the Survolt in the first place and its design team has worked closely with the artist on the project.
The new season at C_42 also includes the award-winning personalised Citroen DS3, created by Flavio Melchiorre. His DS3 design was chosen as the pick of more than 700 entries for the inaugural Citroen Creative Awards and it will be launched in 2011 alongside a range of other personalised DS3 options.
