Toyota Announces Prices for 2011 Tacoma Pickup Truck
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA, Inc., announced manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) today for the 2011 Tacoma, the best-selling compact pickup truck in North America.

The base MSRP for the 2011 Tacoma will range from $16,365 for the Regular Cab 4x2 equipped with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission, to $27,525 for the Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 long bed with a 4.0-liter V6 and five-speed automatic.

All 2011 Tacomas will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Baja California (TMMBC) in Baja California, Mexico and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) in San Antonio, Texas.

For 2011 Toyota has discontinued three low volume manual transmission models and added five four-cylinder, four-speed automatic models. The new models include: Access Cab 4x2 PreRunner; Double Cab 4x2; Double Cab 4x2 PreRunner; Regular Cab 4x4, and Access Cab 4x4.

Added features include a newly designed grille on all Base, SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport and X-Runner models. All Regular Cab models will now include air conditioning as standard equipment and 15-inch styled steel wheels will be standard on 4x2 Regular Cab models. Models with the available six-disc CD changer now come with integrated satellite radio (subscription required). A new Convenience Extra Value Package for Double Cab models adds cruise control, a sliding rear window with privacy glass, remote keyless entry and steering wheel audio controls. One existing color, Black Sand Pearl will be changed to Black.

The 2011 Tacoma line offers two engines: a 2.7-liter DOHC four-cylinder that produces 159 horsepower with 180 lb-ft. of torque and a 4.0-liter DOHC V6 that produces 236 horsepower with 266 lb-ft. of torque. In both engines, variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) provides strong low-end and mid-range torque.

An Electronic Throttle Control System with intelligence (ETCS-i) helps optimize performance and fuel economy. The V6 engine can be teamed with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission. Four-cylinder models offer a choice between a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with a V6 Tow Package Access Cab models have a maximum tow capacity of 6,500 pounds.

Standard on all Tacoma models is the Toyota Star Safety System(TM), which includes the anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC). An Automatic Limited-slip Differential (Auto-LSD), which uses brake intervention to help reduce tire slippage at the rear wheels, is standard on all Tacoma models.

The 2011 Tacoma will begin arriving at Toyota dealerships in late July.

If it aint broke, dont fix it.

The Tacoma is still a great truck and would be the first one I would purchase over the Ranger, Canyon, Dakota.

First Look: 2011 Toyota Tacoma with New Grille
Toyota is making final preparations to start production of the 2011 Tacoma midsize pickup at its new home in San Antonio. Here’s a first look at the latest Tacoma, which features a new grille for all models.

For the past few weeks, Toyota has been building preproduction Tacomas to check assembly processes and quality. The trucks shown here are part of the last pilot batch.

Toyota’s flexible manufacturing process allows Tundras and Tacomas to roll down the line back-to-back if necessary to meet manufacturing demand, said Craig Mullenbach, manager of external affairs at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas.

The 2011 Tacoma sports a revised grille that collapses the previous two-bar style to a single bar. While some models receive bare plastic grilles, others, like the sporty X-Runner, will have body-colored grilles.

Production of the 2011 Tacoma starts Monday, and the first Tacomas could find their way to Toyota dealerships as early as the end of this month.

I've been looking at the older one's as a possible winter beater. Still a little too expensive for something I'm just going to beat the crap out of for 4-5 months a year.

What was Toyota's older truck? The one that was on top gear that went through hell and back and still started? I need me one of those.

2011 Tacoma Pickup Offers All-New TRD T|X and T|X Pro Performance Packages
The Toyota Tacoma, the best-selling compact pickup truck in America, offers two new accessory packages for 2011 based on a concept truck first shown at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show. The T|X and T|X Pro packages, available in conjunction with the Off-Road Package, add Toyota Racing Development (TRD) accessories in a unique combination at a special value price.

Toyota developed the Tacoma T|X concept truck to gauge consumer reaction at the 2009 SEMA Show. The concept featured unique dual custom graphic designs on each side of the truck, and an assortment of aggressive performance features inspired by traditional TRD elements that conveyed the lifestyle of Tacoma owners. The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the truck was a major inspiration for the development of the two new packages.

Available on a limited basis, the new T|X and T|X Pro Packages translate a sporty SEMA concept into a package the customer can add to a Tacoma V6 Access Cab or V6 Double Cab on both 4x2 PreRunner and 4x4 drive types equipped with the TRD Off-Road Package. The extra dose of performance makes it the most capable off-road Tacoma in the Toyota lineup.

The T|X Package gives the Tacoma a sporty and even semi-menacing look with TRD 16-inch black alloy bead-lock wheels and 265/70R16 BF Goodrich Rugged Trail tires. Black tube side steps, a stainless steel exhaust tip and unique exterior graphics give the T|X the look of a custom truck, but at a special value. The MSRP of the T|X Package is $1,699, a savings of $754 compared to the package items ordered as separate options.

The T|X Pro Package is a performance-driven package with a TRD cat-back performance exhaust system to give the V6 a throatier sound and a bit more power. Also priced at an MSRP of $1,699, the T|X Pro Package represents a savings of $720 versus the package contents added as separate accessories. Both T|X and T|X Pro packages deliver a superior value to aftermarket accessories, especially considering that they are covered under the three-year/36,000 mile comprehensive vehicle limited warranty.

The TRD Off-Road Package underlying both T|X editions provides a carefully tuned balance of off-road performance and on-road handling. Chassis modifications include an electronic locking rear differential, progressive-rate front springs, specially tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, a 28-mm front stabilizer bar and B.F. Goodrich Rugged Trail tires. Fog lamps top off the package for a tough, sporty appearance. Added features on the TRD Off-Road Package include a 400W/115V powerpoint in the bed, sport seats with adjustable lumbar support and unique fabric, plus an overhead console with a compass and outside temperature display.

Ordering for the 2011 Tacoma T|X Pro Package will begin in July and the T|X Package will launch two months later in September.

2009 SEMA SHOW TOYOTA TACOMA TX CONCEPT
As some of you may remember, Toyota showcased the Tacoma TX concept pickup truck fitted with various TRD (Toyota Racing Development) items at last year's SEMA Show. Now, the Japanese automaker is introducing two new packages inspired by the concept that are called the T|X and T|X Pro and are available on the Tacoma V6 Access Cab or V6 Double Cab on both 4x2 PreRunner and 4x4 models. And if you're wondering, the "T|X" stands for Tacoma Extreme.

From concept to reality...

I can say that the 2011 Toyota Tacoma is pretty impressive. As far as I can see it, you just need some good toyota tacoma parts to really compensate the good stuffs there. I might get a good run of it when time and money permits myself to have one.

toyota is having a tacoma built with the tundra's 5.7 liter motor swap. Tubbed, Supercharged and ready to race. For SEMA
:werd: ? I'm surprised it fits. That would be an awesome swap for the X-Runner.

Enjoy your ban.
Thanks.
