Aston Martin Project AM310 Concept previews new DBS

The Aston Martin Project AM310 Concept has been unveiled at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in Italy, previewing the design of the next-generation Aston Martin DBS.

Rolled out over the weekend to little fanfare, the striking Project AM310 gives us a strong indication of what to expect when the new production car is unveiled at California’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August.

The AM310 – and consequently the upcoming Aston Martin DBS successor – is understood to be based on an updated version of the brand’s VH platform, rather than a completely new chassis.

Details of the car’s powertrain remain a secret at this stage, although Aston has confirmed it will carry over the 6.0-litre V12 from the current model. Power is tipped to increase beyond 400kW, putting the new DBS in striking distance of serious supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia.

As ever, the flagship Aston’s styling will take an evolutionary step forward, with the Project AM310 drawing inspiration from the One-77 supercar. The headlights and grille have been tweaked while the bonnet gets a more muscular bump and the bumper a new aerodynamic grey carbonfibre splitter.

Along the side, the stylised indicators and vent dividers extend deep towards the trademark Aston Martin door handles, while the rear-end gets piercing tail-lights, an integrated spoiler, and a broad, grey carbonfibre diffuser.

Carbonfibre will be used extensively throughout the construction and body panels of the new DBS, reducing weight and increasing its strength and stiffness.

Aston kept the Project AM310 Concept’s interior out of view at Villa d’Este, although we’re expecting a fresh design and new technology when the production car is revealed.

The Aston Martin Project AM310 becomes the third concept car from the Gaydon-based manufacturer to be unveiled at Villa d’Este in recent years, following the One-77 in 2009 and the V12 Zagato in 2011.
Not bad but I think the rear might be too long and not a big fan of the spoiler. Much rather flat/duct bill style.

Not liking this much, front is overdone and the overall styling has gone a bit soft. Wheels are definitely puke material.

Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish revealed

After a number of spy shots and rumours, Aston Martin has revealed the new Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish. The new model replaces the high-performance DBS.



Although it may look fairly similar to the DBS, the AM 310 Vanquish sits on a new ‘VH’ platform. It features all new panels made from carbon fibre to keep weight down and rigidity up. As a result, the body is up to 25 per cent more rigid.

Under the bonnet sits a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine producing a mighty 421kW of power and 620Nm of torque. It’s the second most powerful road-going Aston, behind the 560kW One-77. The engine is mated up to a Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic transmission.

What’s this all mean out on the road? Acceleration from 0-100km/h can be taken care of in just 4.1 seconds, while the top speed is 295km/h. Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez recently said,

“Bearing the same name as the iconic AM V12 Vanquish that did so much to cement Aston Martin’s reputation as a maker of great GT cars in the modern era, I believe the car unveiled today once again puts this great British brand at the top of its class.

“This is the latest incarnation of everything we know, informed and developed from One-77. It is the ultimate Super Grand Tourer – confident and assured – and is the newest representation of Power, Beauty and Soul.”


Inside, the Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish can be had in 2+2 form with rear seats or a simple two-seat layout. The cabin provides more space than its predecessor, while the boot is also 60 per cent larger, offering 368 litres.

I see the world has a new-found fascination with silver & black wheels. Iroke17 should be proud. First the FR-S, now this latest pic of the AM310.

The actual car looksbetter than the concept for some reason. Probably the color and wheels.
