Hope Honda steers away from the last gen's "big american" styling.

Update!

2013 Honda Accord Coupe Concept
Looking like a slightly stylized version of the current Accord, the new model is smaller overall and with a lower roofline, although Honda claims it has achieved the same interior space. It’s also a lighter vehicle, although Honda isn’t getting into specifics at this point.

The Accord will be the first model to use Honda’s new powertrains, featuring direct-injection among other technologies. Both a V6 and a new 2.4-liter 4-cylinder will be offered, with a newly developed CVT transmission for the 4-cylinder and a 6-speed automatic for the V6. Honda hasn’t announced specs but says it expects the Accord to deliver class leading fuel economy. Whether it can best the new Fusion’s 26/37-mpg rating will be, however, be tough.

In addition, Honda will offer an Accord plug-in hybrid which will offer three driving modes: electric, gas and gasoline/electric. The system will allow 10 to 15 miles of emissions free driving and let you choose when you want to use that electricity. Honda also promises a charge time of 1.5 hours on a 240 volt charger.

To help deliver improved fuel economy across the range, all Accord models will get Honda’s ECO Assist button

Spyshots: 2013 Honda Accord
As you can see in the adjacent images, the production vehicle will inherit some of the features from the concept, while others will be left out. For example the front grille now looks like that on the Accord Crosstour. We can see that the designers have gifted the car with a ducktail spoiler. an element meant to boost its personality.

However, the over-the-top braking system of the concept would be to expensive for the production car, so this will have to make due with a more conventional one. The vehicle is still covered in camouflage, so we still have to wait in order to find out more details about its looks.

Honda Reveals Design for 2013 Accord

Hardly a revolutionary leap forward, but certainly more refined than its predecessor.

Honda showcased a concept version for the new Accord back in January at the Detroit Auto Show, where it was met with a generally positive reception. Now the Japanese automaker has revealed the first shots of the ninth-generation production model, hailed as "the most sculpted and the most dynamic Accord yet."The ninth-generation Accord will be available with an array of conventional and hybrid powertrains, but its finalized design has only now come into focus, appearing in both coupe and sedan form.

Up front Honda has gone for a new, more upright grille and a more shapely hood, while the side flanks have been more sculpted. Honda has made the rear appear lower and wider by extending the taillights to the trunk lid, while the headlights (with a strip of LED daytime running lights for the top-end models) have been smartly updated.Honda claims the sleek new exterior is the result of concentrating on maximizing interior space. There is thus increased passenger and cargo space even though overall dimensions have been shortened to help give it a sportier look... while making it easier to park, too.

Just like the Civic, mildly refreshened front, and new tail lights. But they do look nice. The sedan looks like a Genesis rear.

And the Camry needs a coupe!
