2013 Nissan Altima Spy Photos

This new mid-size Nissan should appear by the end of next year.

It’s hard to determine much about sheetmetal from these pictures, but some details do reveal themselves. The Altima’s new front end looks like a less-ugly version of the 2012 Nissan Versa's, while the rear shows a hunchback trunklid like that of the current Maxima. The taillights should offer a slightly different take on the splat-shaped pods of models like the Juke and the 370Z. It also seems like the Altima might end up being the closest thing to a fastback that the segment offers, with a C-pillar that stretches far beyond the rear wheels. We’ve been promised big surprises for this next Altima, and it’s easy to picture the 2010 Nissan Ellure Concept influencing whatever’s hiding under the camo. It’s certainly worth noting that this Altima will be all-new, and won’t be an update of the current platform.

I mean, this is what confuses people the most and why Nissan is losing money on both sales and efficiency.

They should just make Altima's in the $21,000 range with its 2.5L engine. Then Maxima's in the $28,000 range with its 3.5L V6 engine & luxuries. When you get to $32,000 range, you could buy yourself a darn Infiniti G Sedan. There's no point making the Maxima costing $31,000+ unless the ones buying the car are fools.

As far as I remembered since I was a kid, I always compared Camry's to Maximas. Why would I buy an overpriced Camry?

I'm sorry, I've always been a Nissan fanboy, but I questioned their actions since mid 90s on what direction they're taking their company. Nissan is no longer innovative and just seems like a "me, too" attitude. Hyundai, on the other hand, is nothing but praise.

2013 Nissan Altima Accidentally Revealed in Promotional Video

Now we've got an even cleaner look courtesy of Nissan Japan's Youtube site. The video, celebrating 30 years of production at Nissan Technical Center, briefly shows a pre-pre-pre-production 2013 Altima with no camo testing. We can clearly see the new headlights, swoopy bodywork and a new, sharper grille.

2013 Nissan Altima Sedan Pictures Leak Online

It will reach U.S. dealerships this summer with a choice of two engines, a tweaked version of the 2.5-liter QR25 four-cylinder unit producing 182hp (+7hp) and a peak torque of 180 lb-ft, and 3.5-liter V6 VQ35DE, which remains rated at 270 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

A redesigned Xtronic CVT with new control logic and expanded gear ratio coverage transfers power to the front wheels on both models.

Nissan says that targeted fuel economy for the Altima 2.5L/CVT is 27 mpg city, 38 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined, and for the 3.5L V6/CVT Altima, 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.

Later on, the Japanese automaker will add a hybrid model to the range, which combines a new 2.5-liter supercharged gasoline engine with a compact-size CVT package incorporating a single electric motor and two clutches with energy being stored in a lithium-ion battery.
