Autobytel was recently given the chance to take an inside look into the 2015 Ford F-150. Ford has adopted a number of new technologies for the latest generation of its full-sized pickup truck not the least of which is the extensive use of aluminum in the frame of the F-150 which helps to dramatically reduce weight.

Ford Motor Company is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its groundbreaking Dearborn Truck Plant. As the centerpiece of Ford Rouge Center, Dearborn Truck Plant was conceived as Ford's vision of sustainable manufacturing and has served as flagship for the company's next generation of lean and flexible plants.

Dearborn Truck Plant has produced more than 2.6 million F-150 trucks since it opened in May 2004, and later this year, it will begin production of the all-new 2015 Ford F-150.

Two and a half years before production Ford secretly tested six prototype F-150s with high-strength aluminum cargo boxes. The goal was to prove the durability of aluminum alloy through real-world extreme experiences that ensured the new F-150 could stand up to the tough work of our customers.

The all-new 2015 F-150 continues to set the standard for the future of trucks. Boasting more new Ford technology patents and/or patent applications than any truck in Ford’s 111-year history. The 2015 Ford F-150 – the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 yet.

The new F-150’s structured look features squared-off edges, shapes and surfaces that convey confidence, capability and work readiness. Yet these elements also work together to allow F-150 to slip through the air more efficiently.
