2GRFE 3.5L V6 swap Toyota MR2 Spyder
uspspro said:
2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder with a 2006 2GRFE 3.5L V6 swap.

Modified (to fit) stock exhaust manifolds, K&N intake, no exhaust.

Using RAV4 ECU, but wiring is for Camry ECU, thus the VVTi is not functional in this video due to sensors wired to the wrong pins. I plan to run the Camry ECU once I register it with a VIN...

This swap is now fully complete. The car made 276 rwhp and 248 ftlb of torque at the wheels...

All stock engine, and ECU... Only mods are custom exhaust, modified stock manifolds, K&N intake and lightweight flywheel. The car has all 3 cats fitted.

Such a clean swap. I wonder what the weight distribution is now.

Without knowing all of the details of this car, here's my snap judgment: 2GR > 2ZZ.

2zz weighs about 250lb's, I am pretty sure the 2GR is only 360ish lb.'s.

I doubt that is enough difference to significantly affect the handling. This thing would be fun as hell to drive.

It won't be for long though, I think more people will swarm in on such a swap.

For that engine to be making 276 whp is darned good. It's rated at 272 at the crank in stock form. That means it's probably underrated, either that or it's restricted stock. I think it's a combination of both.

That is my future goal with my sw20!

I love it. Ditch the 1zz, forget about the 2zz, and drop in a 6.
I also liked the sw20 cameo in the first vid.

The guy I know of was using a 5speed manual off a 4cy Camry because it was plug N play with the spyder axles.

Nice. Rather have a turbo 4 but I wouldn't say no to having this. :D
