9k tach and exhaust movie (mr2) + drag *updated

Someone on SC wanted to hear my exhaust and if anyone wants to see a tach rev to 9k here ya go... (yes I was semi bored).

Added later... The car was never dyno tuned and I need to do that. The PFC's settings were modified while driving around for 30 min. after the car was put back together. I had to drive back to NC from Houston about an hour after that.

Sorry about the low quality. I didn't have the Firewire cable... Had to use the USB and line-in (not my camera... sorry the cameraman sucks... He has A D D). I need to do the 8k rpm drop... oh well. Perhaps next time. Tires were bald, cheap, Kuhmos. They were putting water on the track (no imports running) for the big boys and I didn't have the tread to do a burnout. Wasn't concerned with the light a lot of the time either. Reaction times are easy to keep low when you go on the third yellow.

Please right click and save if you plan to view more than once.

That Mustang GT is my friend's. Dynoed at 360hp (supercharged).

Oops forgot the sound.

You can hear the wheel hop. Also you can hear me miss 3rd. The only gear I ever seemed to miss for some reason. I guess I didn't have a good neutral feeling before trying to throw it directly up.

Weak launch. You can see the front end dip down right after the start.

Toyota Supra loses, and I miss 3rd again.

Oh here's some video I took today. Last brief shift was 4th gear and taken up to 7500 rpm.

Are you making good power to 9k with the port n polished head? just curious because I'm thinking about doing a GTS swap and want to pretty much set it up like your 2zz w/ 9k rev limit

On the butt dyno I can't feel it lose power. I know there is a drop off of some sort (LilRocket tuned it really quick before I drove back to NC). When the Spyder owners have a get together in West NC at the end of October I'll have LilRocket look at it again. Some members of SC have come to the conclusion that it might be running a little rich.

After that I'll get a real dyno done... Wish someone knew of a good shop here that could dyno tune it.

I think you should be able to tune out the power dip with the head flowing better but it looks like the 2zz isn't gonna be able to make power to 9k until cams come out, kinda sux because I doubt cams will be out for a while, hopefully they'll be out before I decide to do the swap.

I know it isn't going to make power all the way up to 9k, but I think it is fairing better than some other motors out there with the improved airflow. The power dip isn't that hard to tune out. That's already been done, but the air/fuel has to be corrected again. We only had 30 minutes before I had to drive around 20 hours. Still it's better to shift at the higher rpms while in the lower gears (1 & 2). I was using some simulation software for that estimate.

I kinda wrote that wrong, yes you will make power to 9k now but I don't see it being much without cams, it is better like you said in the lower gears so you can land lift easily and I'm sure its a rush to hear your motor rev up to 9k :gap:

I know what you meant :). The power does dip down sometime after 8k (don't know where yet). Doesn't just drop off though. According to the simulation it's still better to shift close to 9k through the first gear, then more like at 8700, 8400, etc for a better 1/4.

Oh yeah... Lift begins at 6k and turns off at 5.8k on the way down.

That's cool.

Just tune to get the most power under the curve.

I updated some movies above. What a sucky night, but everyone was going purty slow. Need to get dyno tuned!

is it dangerous to set your rev limit to 9k with stock GTS internals using power fc?
Yes... the safety limit is known to be around 8600-8700rpm.... we've seen valve floats on engines that's been overrevved to 9000rpm..

Oh wouldn't everyone like to know :)... I had no tread on my tire and the PFC isn't tuned. This is more of a tease cause I don't want to post the numbers right now. I guess running through the water they were putting on the track w/o doing a burnout didn't help. There were no imports so they were putting lotsa water.
