...a passing thought

Carmax currently has a spec-blue 05 GTS and though it's doubtful I'll make the move, I'm halfway considering trading in my 03 GT. I still love the car for many reasons but always regretted not getting the six speed and other extras. Anyhow, I currently have no car payment so I'd loose too much in the trade-up. So much for that thought....

Can't blame you... I HEAVILY considered getting a 9-2x about a month ago. My deciding factor was the fact I don't have a car payment now.
The only thing I can say, is that I can't wait until my car payment is over, and the temptaion of a GT-S isn't enough to over power the lack of payment. I have driven a few GTSs. They are fun, but not fun enough to extend my car payments another year or two.

Er? Why not just get the real thing :) Or the new Legacy for that matter.
You could probably get a 2003 Z or EVO for the less than the 2005 GT-S.
you know who to call if you are shopping at carmax ..

edit:

Guess who I saw at carmax today .. Remember the russian guy that drove a ford mustang that was acting like an idiot and noone liked him. Well I saw his friend that used to own a celica at carmax today. He was buying an audi tt. It looked like a nice car. Too bad I didn't get the sale but ohh well.

Hey, stop called me with AMGs. ;) There's no way I can afford one now with the new house. House > E55-AMG (or C55-AMG). I appreciate it though, and if I didn't just buy the house I might have considered it (I like the C55). Possibly if I sell my townhouse in a couple years I'll pick up a nice AMG with the proceeds, but that's still years away. There should be some nice used 2004 E55's by then.

The celica (imo) has far superior styling than anything I've seen under 35k plus the hatchback is much more practical for my needs. A 9' surf rod and the usual fishing paraphenalia fits into the celica without any problem. Getting a Z or EVO is not even a consideration. If I want to drive something more expensive, I have access to an older James Bond special edition BMW Z3. I drove the z3 again the other night and still prefer my celica. Bottom line... I'm extremely happy with Toyota products so maybe I'll wait until something similar is offered in a higher-end hybrid... another 8 years or so. The '05 thought may just be mid-life-crisis kicking me in the head... gawd, I turn 53 this week!

you'd also get the 7800rpm fuel cut too
Hey, when can Todd and I come over for pancakes again? I want to watch the birdies at the feeder.

Mann Liz.. you and Todd could have come over this AM. I made cheese omelet w/ browned sweet potatoes, etc. Claudia is making stuffed shells later. What are you guys up to?? Give a shout if you have no plans. re... birds, we had about a dozen robins here a week ago so spring might be reasonably close.

I can't imagine the hybrid technology we'll have in 8 years.

I thought you were kidding. Yikes.

The Z3 appeared in the movie only at the very end and in a very static role. At the time of filming it was one of the few prototypes in existence, so chases and stunts with it were forbidden.
At least it's better than the 007 edition Thunderbird from Die Another Day. The t-bird was in that movie for approximately .001 seconds.

no he wouldnt. The fuel cut is only on the 02 models. 03 and up all rev to 8350rpm.

Yep, that's it. My friend just had all the rubber replaced around the ragtop to get rid of leaks.

...good info but mine rarely gets pushed past 6.
ok, then there is NO point in you get a GTS. You don't hit lift until... what...7200 RPMs? If you aren't going to push it that hard, why bother getting one?

If I had it, I'd use it.

Because I can get a REALLY good deal through the dealer I work at. Not to mention they are selling way slow and theres some price reductions (what did they expect...?) I would only want a Legacy GT and thats getting out of my price range.
