When the gas pedal is all the way up, when you first go to tip in the throttle, it binds. Then it will "break free" and the rest of the travel is completely smooth. Anyone ever have this happen before? What did you do to fix it?

I had that on my 86 Cougar. I had to clean the throttle plate and bore, and I also sprayed the pedal pivot and throttle bellcrank with white grease and it made it pretty much go away. The best thing to do is withteh car off take teh cable loose at both ends and try moving the throttle bellcrank, the pedal and the cable seperately - that should let you isolate where in the system it is.
