trickshift is not officially compatible with Toyota's Type T-IV ATF...i would stick with T-IV unless you're running nitrous or something crazy and blowing the tranny would be a possibility either way.

maybe try disconnecting your SLT solenoid to firm up shifts. 00_mongoose has done it before (drop atf pan, disconnect solenoid, put pan back on, refill with atf....check TSB/Repair forum for PDF files with pics of the tranny)
