I went to the Dragway today (family of 4) and now I believe I hold the record for 60', ET, and MPH . I broke in the car very very mildly as instructed by Mitsu, I've always used 93 Mobil/ Shell/ Amoco fuel, I have 1000 miles on the OD, and everything else was untouched as it came from the factory. I made 5 runs but I will only show 4 (missed second gear on my third run, totally my fault, not the trans). Also as a side note, I was trying different launch techniques and shift points to find the sweet spots, so they won't be too consistant.

1st run:
60' 2.002
330' 5.756
1/8 8.826
mph 81.64
1000' 11.480
1/4 13.690
mph 104.02

2nd run:
60' 1.841
330' 5.444
1/8 8.461
mph 82.56
1000' 11.092
1/4 13.289
mph 104.56

3rd run: missed second but still ran a [email protected] 100.34mph

4th run:
60' 1.776
330' 5.406
1/8 8.410
mph 81.88
1000' 11.003
1/4 13.185
mph 102.17

5th run:
60' 1.742
330' 5.406
1/8 8.435
mph 81.21
1000' 11.058
1/4 13.261
mph 101.87

My day at the track.
Best shift points: 6800-6900 rpm
Leave the air filter in the factory air box, lost mph with it out. (possibly too much air)
I never power-shifted just shifted quick and I short shifted the 1-2 at 6400-6600 for best 60'
Spray was on auto (manual through 4th did not help)

Beat up on a modded WRX (13.28 @106, his best), Cobra (high 13's), modded Civic Si (mid 14's- 15's), SVT truck, Camaro's, modded 240SX, etc. but got ate up by a 500hp (stock looking) beautiful blue Cobra (mid 12's @ 116+) and a SVT truck (low 12's @117, claimed to run 11.97 best).

For a reference, I have been in the Drag Racing scene for almost 19 years so this is my thing. If I pull a half dozen 1/4 mile racing tricks out of my sleeve (keeping it stock and no bolt on's), I know I could pull a 12.99 at 106-107mph or better out of my EVO. Unfortunately, I'm not really interested in doing that anytime soon because I would like to try my luck at local Solo II autocross events.

I also want to mention that 5 runs isn't enough to test what the EVO (4G63) may like or dislike on a Dragstrip. From my track experience, I just had a little head start. Good luck EVO lovers.

Oh by the way, I'm no light-weight, 6'3", 205lbs.

nuff said.. fugk the bs.. fugk the critics.. not bad for a car highly questioned and doubted by people who dont know wassup wit 4G63 power.. and which Shiv supposedly only dynoed at 180HP @ the wheels

Pruven Performance already got their EVO to run 12.59 @ 107.59 with minor bolt ons..

they dynoed theirs stock SAE corrected 223hp. and 238ft lbs of torque (vid below)

It's running low 13's with only 223whp? How much does that car weigh? Either that or its gotta be the AWD with some kinda crazy launch. Wow, but as the guy said, he's got a few 1/4 mile runs under his belt before this run. Awesome times though, it beats a stock SupraTT in the 1/4, probably not the highway, but in the 1/4 definately.

What are the kinda times are the normal folk pulling with the car?

well.. look at his 60ft times.. they arent all that great.. 2.0.. 1.8.. 1.7.. those are the normal imo 60ft for awd car launched properly.. other folks i hear are pully low-mid13s more mids.. at least ones ive heard of.

u dont think the evo is good on the highway? the wrx is a lot worse.. that boxer engine has a lot of low end grunt.. but as far as top end power and awd.. it dont do it any justice on the raod.. im pretty sure the sti wont be any different.. maybe a lil better with bigger disaplcement.. but we'll see

LaW.. getting tired of seeing the stock altezzas on their rear end? :)

Not surprised at all.

On a side note: I vote for Slasher to come back to the racing forum :D
ok, I posted like 3 replies and noticed the same thign as to why I left. about 99.5% of the people in there know next to nothing about cars other than what their buddy did to his auto GT to make it run down a ZO6. The overall ignorance is appalling..I wonder how they manage to put the key in the ignition, let alone hand out automotive "facts" and "advice".

I think he was talking about the nozzle that sprays on to the intercooler to cool down the air as it goes through or something to that effect... I almost sure about that

im pretty sure if he was running some nitrous he wouldve mentioned it.. that spray he is talking about is most likely the intercooler sprayer.. which was set on auto.. to prevent and help from heatsoak on the ic..

come on bro.. having doubts? it's an evo.. has 4G63T and AWD.. its been proven.. this shouldnt be a surprise..

You ever play that game at the amusement park arcade where you get the padded hammer and you have to beat down all the heads that come up out of the table? Thats what Racing Stories is like for me..

EVO comes with an intercooler spray stock? Thats pretty damn cool. Learn something new every day :)

I wonder of thats indicative of a heat soak problem though? Thats a pretty a-typical thing for a manufacturer to do.

And I don't disbelieve the time - I am a firm believer in the beauty of all wheel drive turboed cars :) I just wasn't aware of the inetercooler spray being a stock item. I don't know EVERYTHING after all, just a lot about Toyotas :)

So yeah - my bad :D

The new Ford Lightning coming out is coming with sort of a nitrous type. It uses the AC system to cool down the air then uses it as kind of a shot to the supercharger system. Produces about 50 more horsies for about 30 seconds...Then takes about 3-4 minutes to recharge. I thought that was kind of neat when i read it.
