so I have a Celica GT-S 00 with 252000 on it, it ran healthy for a while then today on my way home i was doing a nice 90 on the highway and suddenly i started hearing a ticking sound, not a knocking sound(i someone know what that is because my integra started doing that before) but anyways it started making that sound i dropped to about 50 to take a curve turn and i noticed after i got back on the gas the car wouldn't accelerate and slowly dropped rpms, i pulled off to the side of the highway and as i came to an almost complete stop i clutched in and the car just died. i called my friends and let them know and when they got there they told me to try and start it, it would struggle to start sounding like a bad starter then catch idle at like 200-400 rpm and die out instantly. i wanna know what you guys think the issue might be

Theres any number of things this could be, first thing i would do is change the oil and look for any metal flakes in the oil and if you want to cut the filter open and inspect it also.

If that all looks good pull the spark plugs look at them see if one is fouled worse then the rest. Do a compression test seeings as your already halfway there, write compressiob down and see if any thing screamed at ya.

Next go ahead an Replace the plugs and put new boots on the coil packs for good measure, start the car see how it does. If it still runs like shit, try to keep it alive for a minuet or two and pull the plugs agian and see if one or more fouled or wet. Thats where your issue will be.

Report back your findings and we can go a little deeper.
