.........in the 1/8th mile!! lol...i finally got to go to the track today and run my celica! i think i did pretty good for my first time with a manual..yeah and you could tell it was my first time bc i mis-shifted ALOT and over-revved ALOT...i ran 5 times with my first one being my best..usually when you run you get better, well i got worse, lol...naw i really stayed consistant though-out my runs...there were nothing but domestics at the track..mustangs, GTOs, Trans ams, there was a supercharged chevy that ran 11's, and did i mention a **** load of mustangs?!?!! i thought texas was bad with mustangs..jeez..but enough stalling, heres my best slip..keep in mind this was my first time with a manual so im not familar with launching..i've been reading the how to launch thread but i'll have to read it some more..any advice you manuals can give me will be greatly appricated...btw im running with just a CAI, exhaust, short shifter. took out my backseats and subs.

R/T .863
60 2.463
330 6.773
1/8 10.392
MPH 70.51
1000 13.353
1/4 16.001!!!
MPH 88.85

i was so close to 15s! all i have to do is lower my RT and shift perfect and i know i'll be there.

my best reaction time was .405...they didnt give me anytime to setup my launch, i barely was able to get the ebrake up and revv up to 4K...overall im glad with my time with just those mods...not bad for my first time!!

reaction time doesn't effect your ET, but with lots of practice you should be able to get 9s in the 1/8 and at least lower 15s
i have a GTS...i know, i know that i should be running mid 15's or so but i knew i wasnt going to get the launch technique down the first time at the track! plus i kept focusing on who was racing next to me and i had so many things running through my head that by the time the green came, i was like,"oh ****, go!!!!"
yea dont worry man first time at the track can be nerve racking.. but once you get used to it you can aim for 14 second time slips
tell me its an auto gt-s, i ran 15.8 on my 5 spd gt on street tires(first timer too) nothing done to the car what so ever... bone stock no cai NADA but ran 15.8 and you ran 16 flat...what RPM did you launch at?
1) work on your launch
2) you're not landing lift
3) I've seen stock 5spd civics (non SI) run 16.0 lol

with practice you'll get better.

oh yeah, you should be mid 14's on that setup easily.

Whoa.. I think your shifting needs the most improvement. You are landing way out of lift. Practice your launches and you can get your 60' down to 2.1-2.3 on street tires.
did you have your foot all the way on the gas?
shifting is my biggest problem..i tend to understick 3rd gear and i end up trying to grab 2nd gear..hence the mis-shifts..well i know im capable of 15's its just i didnt want to be there any longer bc i was the only import there and one that was actually running...i dont think im suppose to do this but, at first i was shifting once i heard lift kick in...should i shift at a certain RPM instead? how long should i be in lift? once i hit lift, i'd either stay in too long or leave too early...and how about shifting with the pedals..do you leave your gas foot on all the time or do you do a quick release while you shift? bc thats what i do...by the next time i hit the track i'll have better times...
what year GTS do you have? What rpm were you shifting at?

If you have a 2002 or 2005, shift at 7800rpms. Any other year, shift at 8300rpms.

thats right mid to high 14's don't shot for 15's get some good tires and stay in lift
Work on it and you'll get better!! Your should be at the least in the low 15s with a lil more experience .. Godd luck and have fun next time!!

Btw, I've seen a stock gt ran 15.9x once!! And that was his only run with the car stock ..

i ran my GT stock 16.001 16.1 and finally 15.9. Thats stock WITH GTS rims which slowed me down.

Are you wheel hopping in first and shifting early?? Also are you auto or manual?

clutch = manual :gap:
dont feel bad, i ran a 15.2 in the Z once, spun all first , spun too much slamming into 2nd hit shiftgate going into 3rd but finally got the [email protected] in there(this was after switching cars... when it comes to having to switch technique back and forth it sucks), anywhow.. ran 15.2 @ like 101mph

:slaps forehead:
If you have a non 2002 GTS, shift the 1-2 at 8450, and the 2-3 closer to 8300.
Stay in lift, etc. etc.
