To meany wrong things with that celica setup for that track or any track honestly,
major ones are:
not enough traction/speed exiting corners
rev limit to 7800
lift too high at stock 6200rpm
gearing

I agree with Maester.

The Celica gts is stock (And By trd) not tuned to Be the fastest on a track. It is tuned to have a lot of fun on the street. Its indeed the gearing And the lift rpm.
As the driver in the YouTube film Saïd. It Händels Well, good balanced, but hè misses Some power.
To Be faster lift should come in at about 4500 -5200 rpm. But this would Be a smooth transition, so not so impressive. Lift kick in at 6200 is way more impressive. Thats why Toyota choose to have the lift at a (to) high rpm. The most Celica's are driven on the street, And they give their owner a very good feeling.

Its a good platform (chassis) for a track car, it can handle a lot of power, but you need to tune the engine / geraring.

Sad. The MR-S was outmatched in terms of power and is understandable with its placement. The SportsM, however, was flat out sad.
So very sad.
I always thought a SportsM would give a Type R a run for it's money but I was completely wrong, a SportsM just has a ton of expensive parts and nothing to back it up :marky:

That's the only reason I'm keeping it for now is how good it looks, if it was any more ugly I'd probably sell it right now

Here is how a regular Celicas do

This is still really sad considering how much a Celica used to cost new off the show room floor. Maybe it really is just a chick car

That is an excelent video to show what needs to be changed on the celica to be
better performance wise.

First you can clearly see that the celica is excelent at corners, it can match all cars with no problems.

Problem resides on the gearing and redline limit, and it is perfectly demonstrated going uphill and changing gear from 2nd to 3rd.

I wonder why i have changed my gear ratios, set my rev limit to 8600, and have lift at 5600 rpm... ;)

Looks like the SportsM was still set to beat a GS-R. TRD invested into its suspension, but did nothing worth noting for the motor. Even the drivers said they could have done better. FFS, the SportsM was barely keeping its place in front of a 1zz MR-S!! :faint:

That does not suprises me at all, did you know that the all mighty "top spec"
celica sportsM/TRD is slower then a stock celica t-sport?

from this test:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/toyota-thunder-trd-celica-gt-s-road-test

"But although the exhaust and the intake change the sound of the Celica, there's nothing to indicate that they make it quicker. The TRD car's 7.5-second 0-to-60-mph clocking is 0.3 second slower than the last stock machine we tested, and the TRD's quarter-mile time of 15.7 seconds at 92 mph is 2 mph slower. There's no reason TRD's changes should have made the car much faster, but they shouldn't have slowed it down. We can only guess at the reasons for this small disparity".

The gts only need 4 changes to be at a totally diferent level:

- good tyres ( recommend this: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 )
- Springs
- gearing
- power fc (higher rpm cut + lower lift engagment )

Do this and you will kill any type r of those videos
